[Avira]My heart banged heavily against my chest as I ran deeply into the woods, looking for a perfect hide out since there was no way to outrun the entire pack. I continued to run with no shed or anywhere I could hide in sight, until I suddenly felt a strange coldness and an unusual shortness of breath. My feet slowed down on their own to a stop while my head darted from one corner of the darkness to another in fear.This was no ordinary coldness, I told myself, and when that only made me scared the more, I retracted my statement, and instead tried without success to convince myself that it was ordinary. [Dylan]I watched as Avira suddenly became uneasy once I mentioned the cave, and I wondered why. It was only a cave, and it was the only option I had with the other members of the pack nearly upon us."Is something wrong?" [Avira]I did not realize how far into the night we had spent until the cloud gradually shifted and revealed the moon.I suddenly felt a burning sensation around my neck which prompted me to clutch my neck in a futile attempt to wriggle the fucking necklace off, but just as it was back inside the Ashen cage, the ugly looking necklace did not yield or come off. The stranger was on all fours already, ready to shift, and trying hard to not scream even though he didn't have to. I mean who cares if he screamed or not? [Avira]We did not set out of the cave until four nights later, when Dylan was sure that the warriors must have relented in their guard in search for me. I was eager to leave the pack which now held nothing but sad memories and contempt for me so that when Dylan stated that we would leave tonight, I was overjoyed even though I had no idea where we were headed or how welcome I would be.I had tried everyday in the last four days to not think about Beta Maverick or that night, or Alpha Demian, or the entire pack at large. Instead, I reminisced about Dylan's rescue with so much gratitude, and tried to imagine the life that awaited me. There was nothing or no one to miss in the entire pack, and that in itself was a relief."Eat this." The stranger called, stretching out a wrap of dumpling to me. [Avira]We continued our journey a little while later, after my breathing became even. Dylan waited until he was sure that I was okay before we continued. We were in the middle of the forest now, and still within the pack's territory. From what I felt, we won't be out of the forest until hours later, and my left leg has become heavier and more painful than it used to be. I was trying hard not to limp, and trying even harder so I don't get noticed by him, and so far, I was doing great."I don't think you can continue with all that pain," Dylan said from beside me, and I shot him a look. [Dylan]For the first time since that awful night when the entire pack tried to kill her, Avira actually cried. A throaty, heart wrecking silent sob that instantly shredded my heart into uncountable pieces. Again I felt a force, one that was beyond my control, drawing me to her, and wished I had answers to the questions that crowded my head.I watched her as the skin on her throat quivered pitifully against the Lunar Lock as she sobbed silently. But I said nothing. I did not tell her to stop crying. Crying would help her get the pain she was feeling off her chest, and would also give me enough time to perfect my plans. Yes, I had a plan, and no, Avira wouldn't like it but at this point, neither of us had a choice. [Avira]I stretched lazily on the cold ground until my arms were restricted by a hard object, and I snapped my eyes open. I was sleeping peacefully until I woke up, and realized that I was still in the hollow of the tree. Although I had pretended to be okay with the arrangement last night, I was not. In fact, I only ceased to be scared after I slept off, and now that I was awake, my fear had returned, and stronger I'm afraid. "Are you still sleeping?" I whispered in the darkness, turning to the other side where Dylan had bedded down, only to meet it empty. Fear gripped me instantly as I peered outside for any sign of him, and found none.He didn't leave me all by myself here." [Avira]My heart lurched violently against my ribs at the sudden deafening sound that broke through the early morning silence. Even though I had spent the last few minutes waiting for it, its arrival had caught me by surprise, and caused me to flinch.I was squatting behind the shrub from last night, and peering at the men guarding the borderline, and Dylan, well, he made that sound.I was waiting for every last man to leave the border in search of whoever it was that made the sound but they weren't leaving or making any move to. They were shocked and alerted alright, but they weren't moving.Dylan's plan was to lure them away from the borderline with the loud noise, thereby providing me a free passage through, but the men guarding the borderline would not move, and as I watched them from behind the shrub, I felt a mixture of fear and impatience crawling into me.The deafening sound came on again, this time it was louder than the first, and a sharp cry followed a little while later."

[Dylan]I led Avira back to the shrub, and made her hide behind it, after which I told her everything she needed to do, which was not much. All she had to do was run as fast as her feet could carry her the moment the guards left the borderline.I left a few minutes later, after repeating the instruction to her, and ensuring that she understood everything I told her. The forest was dark but my eyes had become used to it. I was heading for the left side of the forest, in the opposite direction from where Avira was hiding. I continued walking until I came across the pack's moonhorn. An ancient instrument made with a horn with symbols of a fiery moon inscribed all over it. It was placed on a raised platform, like an altar. Warriors use it to call on each other when there is danger, or to summon each other to an assembly.I looked around me to be sure that no one was within me, and reached for the moonhorn. [Avira]The journey to the border was long and quiet. Too long and too quiet, but thankfully my legs weren't hurting so much anymore. It turned out that the foul smelling healing remedy was effective.I was moving farther away from the place I believed to be home for two years, and heading for a new place I knew nothing about. Maybe I should ask Dylan but Dylan as I had noticed had withdrawn from me, after withdrawing his hand from my waist. But I needed to ask him questions about his pack to know what to expect when we arrived there. Are there barbaric laws in the pack just as they have in Moonfire pack? Will I be welcomed, and made to feel at home, or will I be segregated, and handed over to the pack's Beta like I was in Moonfire pack? What is the name of the pack?
