All Chapters of Love On Ice: Chapter 81 - Chapter 90

*CHRIS* Normally when someone is staring down the barrel of a gun, they see their life flash before their eyes. Well when it was me, all I could think of was if she didn’t pull the trigger, I’d be the problem she didn’t want. At that time I didn’t know how. But as the days went by I knew what I had to do. Unfortunately I had to stick a pin in it because I still had to find Jamira and that dusty coochie ass hoe Ayana needed to pay. She thought I didn’t like her ass before. She was eventually going to see how much I despise her. Every day I’d make time to go by her house. I knew she knew my car from the last time I was there. Every time I’d go, it would be in a customer’s vehicle instead. She couldn’t catch me if she wanted to. I was careful not to look directly at the house as I passed it. Often times my eyes would just scan until something was worth stopping for. It wasn’t. I would check online to see if Jamira posted anything. She rarely did. Then I’d go to Ayana’s b

*ERIC* “Mimi, please don’t make me go,” Kayla pleaded while tugging on Jamira’s wrist. Jamira looked back at me with those dazzling, big, brown eyes of hers. I looked away because I knew I’d give in if I didn’t. “Come on, Eric, what’s one more day?” “She’s not mine to do that with.” “Didn’t you take her without permission?” “That’s not the point. Kacie already said she was coming to get her.” Jamira turned to Kayla and held her cheek. “Sorry, little one, I tried.” They both looked like two sad ass puppies who never found their forever homes. “Come put your shoes on, sour patch.” Kayla pouted as she reluctantly put her shoes on. “It’s okay. I promise I’ll come and get you again.” She gave a half smile and sulked all the way to the couch to wait. I went and gathered her things, making sure she left with everything she came with. I’ve never seen her so sad. And yet, it was nothing I could do. That cut deeper than any knife could. At the last

*AYANA* My phone had been dry ever since that night Jeremy left me naked and fucking afraid in that hotel room by myself. Outside of Jamira occasionally sending shit, it was mostly silent. I didn’t expect much, but damn, a cute little ‘are you alive’ text would’ve been nice. To make matters worse, I haven’t heard from my mom either. I mean damn, I felt like she should’ve been the main one checking on me. It was all good though. I still had my best friend and her man to keep me company. After an extremely eventful weekend, I had to return to work unfortunately. I was not looking forward to seeing teeth, dental instruments, or my coworkers. “Dang Jamira, you made him breakfast. You could’ve made me some too. I’m a part of the family now.” “Yana, I didn’t say you couldn’t. I just said you had to wait.” “It wasn’t a yes.” “It wasn’t a no either.” “Well that’s what I heard.” Jamira rolled her eyes at me. “Yana, you’re impossible, you know that?” Suddenly Eric c

*ERIC* I leaned back into the couch and rubbed my palms together. She glanced down at her notes before looking back up at me. “You’ve mentioned Chris several times over the last few sessions.” I shrugged. “He keeps coming up.” “What is it about him?” “He hurt someone I care about.” She nodded. “I know that. I’m asking why he affects you differently than everyone else.” I frowned. “What do you mean?” “You’ve told me about Josh.” My jaw tightened. “You’ve told me about Kacie.” I looked away. “You’ve told me about your parents.” Silence. “You’ve told me about work. You’ve told me about friendships. You’ve described a lot of conflict in your life, Eric. Yet every time Chris comes up…” She paused. “Your entire demeanor changes.” “He’s different.” “How?” “He’s dangerous.” “So was Josh.” I exhaled through my nose. “It’s not the same.” “Explain the difference.” I shifted in my seat. “Josh is Kayla’s father.” “And?” “There wasn’t anythi

*CHRIS* The sound of horns blaring and car engines echoing jolted me out of my sleep. I lifted my head and looked around, unable to remember where I was. It all came rushing back as soon as I gazed over at the corner and saw that beautiful black Infiniti that I loved so much. It was tucked away beside a silver truck that sat up high near the elevator. I smiled to myself because not only had I spotted it, but Mira was no longer outside my reach. “Time to bring you home,” I whispered to myself. The night before, I decided it was time to scope out the garage that Ayana led me to the other night. Nothing really stood out, even though the garage itself felt like a showcase of high-quality vehicles. The garage itself had about five decks. I only had to drive up two before spotting Jamira’s car. There was no mistaking it. I always knew it when I saw it. I parked at the end of the row opposite hers. That night, I watched those elevator doors closely to make sure I didn’t miss the
