Prologue
Tonight happened to be a rare Lunar Trifecta. The surroundings glowed with bloody color from the moon. The moon looks amazing that even the cloud is ashamed to cover it. The sparkling stars are worthless in their claim to beauty. In the eyes of a human, the vision is terrifying. Some of them even believe that such phenomena bring horror and misfortunes. But to werewolves like me, the red moon is a symbol of grief. It is the time of the Moon Goddess’s lament over her separation from the Sun King. The Earth Princess is the one who is being taken cared of by His Majesty while the jealous Moon Goddess is covered in the background. Sympathizing with Her sadness is my bewildered emotions at my abandoned destiny. The chilly breeze of midnight stroke my silvery mane. I focused my attention in front of me. There in the enormous podocarp conifer in the woods is my runaway human mate. She is bounded and bloody

Chapter One
Amante POV                  I stared intently at the Alpha King. He is arrogantly standing on top of a half-snowed boulder and surveying the quiet city just below the hill. The frosty, white fur of his wolf form is lending him the impression of power and strength he possesses. A smirk momentarily flashes my pouting lips. I know too well how incapable he could be on the coming orchestrated attack on the human race. He used to be calm, careful and seemed to be content living peacefully inside his settled dwelling. I am more suited to where he stands now. Being the last and only fire wolf survivor, I am a stunning distinct contrast to the surrounding army because of my enormous height and extraordinary color of pelage. Among the army of werewolves, there are black wolves that are dominant in number but stood relatively smaller than the brown ones who have the bul

Chapter Two
Amante POV                   A soft breeze suddenly fans my way. A spicy and floral sweetness of a somewhat woody and herbal aroma subsists. Its addictive fragrance lingers, arousing inconceivable feelings inside of me. Amaltheo stirs from its desolate drowsiness and sniffs incessantly the scent that caught our absolute interest. I trot awkwardly away from the army, abandoning the dark schemes I have for the Alpha King. The intoxicating smell is wafting stronger now, drifting flawlessly as if inviting me into a feast of luscious sensuality and romance. I step on my way, desperately searching for the source of my excitement. “Mate!”, I whisper simultaneously with my ecstatic wolf. I feel my heart pounding rapidly inside my chest. I am thrilled with joy at the celebratory discovery of my long-lost destined mate.

Chapter Three
Amante POV                    The anguish I feel over the miserable defeat of attempting to save my mate is nothing compared to the shock am being in right now. My wolf form is crouching exhausted until I hear that faint screech coming from the opposite side of the door. I hold my breath instinctively as I watch it slowly raise and open softly from the inside. A gust of lavender scent mixed with the smoky-sweet aroma of chamomile flower wafted delicately through my nose. Somebody unlocks the door and it could mean one terrible fact. Only a human being could hold and unlock the silver-coated door! And with that strong scent of my mate coming from that room, I felt my whole being swept away with the wind. If werewolves have souls, mine definitely would have withered from my own body. Validating my horrible perceptions are the bewildered pair of sparkling emerald eye

Chapter Four
Amante POV                     After the triumphant assault in Murrietta City, the army starts to line up for retreat. Some are carrying the lifeless bodies of our fallen comrades especially those we know have waiting families in the pack lands. I am going home with my mate. I have her sitting leisurely at the broad back of my wolf form. It surprises everybody when she willingly climb up so I can carry her on the way like a queen on a gallant chariot. She looks like an excited kid going on a picnic, smiling incessantly and enjoying the trip. She sometimes ask me to stop to pick some flowers on the way. I am starting to be comfortable with her unfazed demeanor. The trip going back to our village is long and exhausting. From time to time, we stop by to rest or scout the area first before moving forward again. Halfway down the r

Chapter Five
Amante POV                  The wind howls in the distance rhyming delicately with the soft sound of running water besides the big boulder of snow-covered stone. The thick forest behind is tranquil, not a sight of any living animals around. The trees are gleaming from the moonlight caress, wet and shiny and scarcely swayed by the chilling breeze of late winter. The valley generally looks captivating dusted in the fluffy snow with dainty snowflakes falling from time to time. I would have appreciated the view if not for the equally mesmerizing scenery in front of me. I am towering naked in front of my mate’s bewildered eyes. A cliché saying “the face that sinks a thousand ships”, perfectly describes her right now. Her jaw is dropping and a red blush is visible on her silky white cheeks. That shyness comes from her “accidental” glimpse of my proud manhood.   &nb

Chapter Six
Amante POV       “No way! It is not what I am thinking it is, right? Don’t you dare!”, Amaltheo shriek in my head when he reads the idea that is thrashing inside. “Why not?”, I ask taunting him visions of mountaineering. I chuckle at his gutlessness.                What I have in mind is clawing my way up the hundred-foot, rocky and snow-filled hillside. It is crazy and dare-devil but I think I am going to give it a try. I can understand my wolf's freakouts. Wolves have quite a large build that was not made for climbing trees especially vertically slanted hills. I use to weigh only 90 pounds in wolf form but now, I assess it to be up to 250 pounds which is very heavy to carry up the head heights. Wolves simply aren’t climbers. I look back at my mate. She motioned her approval by nodding excitedly with a sweet smile plastered on her fac

Chapter Seven
Amante POV                    The deafening silence of the forest contests with the calmness of my winter breaths. The thick forest is dark with snow fog, gloomy, and chilly without any living things around other than the frozen podocarp conifers and southern beech trees. It is a wonder how those gigantic, sturdy, and massive hedges withstand in this frigid region. “Incredible, isn’t it?”, I mumbled, smirking boastfully at Maziar conscious of his awe of a lifetime.                He stands awkward, anxious about the phenomenon he is witnessing in front of him. It took him a while, then, a huge grin flashes on his face. He grasps his balding hair incredulously, sending me an impression of astonishment and glory. He turns his naked butt around and

Chapter Eight
Amante POV                     The icy squall encircles the silent sanctuary of the werewolf pack. Its howling is faint and subsists with the exasperated gasps of the crowd. It is entirely quiet and peaceful but is a total contrast to the wreaking havoc wolf inside my mind. Amaltheo is outraged at my intention to disregard my mate. He is clawing, growling, and smashing my walls of ascendancy to no avail. I am the master of my own! I look at Allyssa. Her face is somber and hurting I can see tears running down her smooth cheeks. I resist the slicing pain of guilt in my chest and stare at her in the eyes. Her emerald green eyes are sparkling with bitter bursts. “Allyssa! You hear that. Then submit to me and I will keep your worthless life safe with me.”, my voice is so sweet an ignorant can mistake it for genuine kindness.

Chapter Nine
Amante POV                   The hallway is bare and only the thick carpet that wards off the freezing coldness of the ground can be considered as adornment. Werewolves are resilient to cold but the freezing point in this land goes beyond our limits. A little warmth the carpet provides is appreciated. Without windows and lighting, it could be dark for a human peripheral vision. But werewolves are nocturnal. Our night vision is 40-50% higher than average human eyesight. Thus, it was never an issue for me to walk my way down the narrow passage. Winter wolves used to live in ice caves before having shipping containers from sunken ships becomes useful as low-slung buildings to accommodate more pack members with their respective privacy is put into consideration. The make-shift office is located in the farthest-end room. I was in the middle of my self-reflecti
