Yasmine is a simple village girl who is a little different from everyone else. She doesn't like her proper place as she would rather train to fight like a warrior than wash smelly, dirty clothes or be locked away in a kitchen somewhere like the other girls. Every five years, her village is invaded by what the Elders refer to as the beasts. They ransack everything and kidnap a selected few of the young villages that have just reached or are about to reach their eighteenth year. No one knows what happens to them as they were never seen again. How will Yasmine react when the beasts come for her and the Alpha of the beasts claims her as his own? With human hunters roaming the woods, Rival Packs wanting revenge, Friends and Ex-Lovers causing trouble, Will they overcome each obstacle that is thrown at them and come together as one? Or will they be torn apart??? ** Warning ** This story contains some violence, mature language, and mature scenes. Please read at your own discretion.
View MoreMy name is Yasmine, and I am approaching my eighteenth year. I’m barely five feet tall, but my rebellious attitude makes up for it, I was always getting into trouble with the elders for not obeying the rules and keeping to my place as a girl growing into a woman should. I have emerald green eyes, golden brown skin, and long raven black hair that I wear in a bun at the base of my neck. My village community was small, with only around two thousand people, and we were what outsiders considered old-fashioned and self-sufficient, which meant that everyone worked, regardless of age but like all old-style villages the men had their place and so did the women, we all travelled by horse, horse, and cart, or on foot.
We have the fundamental stores that any country town has or requires in the village’s main centre, including a seamstress for our clothes, a butcher, a bakery, and a market for all the fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy, and any food for the village’s animals. In addition, we have a small school, a blacksmith, and a healer. The blacksmith and the healer are the only ones who leave the village to purchase supplies in the surrounding larger cities; occasionally, they even return with extra fabric for the seamstress or sometimes a trinket or two for one or more of the village’s younger children. I suppose it's not bad for a little village in the middle of nowhere, surrounded on three sides by dense woods.
The village is buzzing right now as we prepare for our annual celebration. Every year, the community holds a celebration to commemorate another exceptional year and to make an offering for a prosperous year to come. They festooned the village with colourful streamers and flowers, and all the other businesses are working overtime to prepare for the upcoming celebration. We appear to get a few more visitors on the day of the celebration, which is beneficial because it permits our blacksmith and healer to make supply runs in the coming year.
I believe one of the elders negotiated a deal with a tour bus company in one of the larger towns so that once a year, a bus full of visitors stops in the village for a couple of hours specifically for the celebration, ensuring that they leave before nightfall. Now and again, on the night of the celebration, two young villages would vanish, sometimes two girls, sometimes two guys, or a girl and a guy. No one knows where they go or what happens to them since they vanish without a trace.
My mother was one of the girls that disappeared during the celebration a few days after I was born, so I was raised by my grandma. My grandma was now known as the village’s crazy elder because she believed in strange stories like wolves that could transform into humans and enter the village in search of a mate. The celebration, she claims, was a ruse to allow these wolves in human form to enter the community undetected and then leave later that night with the guy or girl of their choice. It was the elders’ justification for keeping the village safe from intruders, whether supernatural or ordinary strangers.
The other story my grandmother told was about the creatures that would come into our village every five years. Grandmother’s mother informed her that one year, shortly after she turned eighteen, the beasts were enraged with the village elders because they had violated their partnership, so they looted everything and abducted everyone who had just turned eighteen or was going to reach eighteen soon. She’d gotten away and hidden so they couldn’t locate her, but she could still see and hear what was going on.
“I will come every five years to collect what is owing to me,” the creature's leader stated.
If no one was chosen at the celebration, the elders of the village made a decision and presented the creatures with an offering. Following the celebration, a girl and a boy would be sedated, blindfolded, and bound to the offering posts just outside the village line and just within the woods. The chosen were re-sedated and returned to their homes back to the village if the creatures did not take their offering after twenty-four hours. The choice and offering was always someone who had just turned eighteen and was normally a virgin, which is why my grandma was taken aback when my mother vanished.
I didn’t fit in with the rest of the villagers; yeah, I had friends, but I stood out. I seemed to have more confidence and bravery than everyone else, and many of my peers used to claim that I didn’t have more confidence or bravery, but rather more ignorance and idiocy as I grew up because when I was old enough to comprehend what my grandmother’s stories meant and that she believed them. Skipping my tedious studies at the village school, I would go watch the guys train to fight, despite the fact that they never seemed to apply their training on the one night that mattered.
After a while, I began to mimic their actions, and one day I was practising the maneuvers they had been learning when one of the younger guys noticed me. He yelled, alerting everyone to my presence, and the elder instructor approached me. As he approached me, I realized it was Elder Miles. I bowed as I watched everyone else do, and he seemed to have a sneer on his face as he asked,
“Do you believe you’re good enough to join us?”
When I say “Yes Sir!”
I believe I astound everyone. Bow once again. He then turns and signals for me to follow, which I do, and as we approach the group of males, Elder Miles claps his hands. The guy's race to form a circle and then drop down on their knees. Elder Miles brings me into the circle and then gestures to a man saying.
“Charles!”
He rises and bows to elder Miles before joining us in the circle’s centre. Elder Miles then turns to face me and says,
“If you can get Charles here to the ground three times, I’ll teach you how to fight correctly.”
Everyone in the circle laughs, but it doesn’t make me nervous or fearful; instead, it makes me want to prove them all wrong. Elder Miles takes a step back and claps his hands once, and Charles moves in front of me and adopts the combat position I’ve seen them all undertake. I block Charles’s first few strikes, but he hits me hard enough that I fall to the ground, and everyone laughs again.
As I rise to my feet, I strike the ground with my fist. I immediately confront him, and he repeatedly throws me to the ground, making me even more enraged and embarrassed. I glance at elder Miles as his face falls, and he shakes his head, thinking about some of the few things I could remember him saying and one of the key ones he kept repeating.
‘Never let your emotions get the best of you and you can achieve anything!’
Taking a deep breath, I slowly release it, returning to my feet. I gaze at Charles and try to stay as still as possible while I dodge his punches, waiting for an opportunity. I then sweep his legs, knocking him to the ground. Now it’s Charles’ turn to be irritated and embarrassed, so I do the same thing he did and knock him back to the ground again. I smile as, after a brief struggle, I manage to force him to the ground once more. As I bow towards Elder Miles, he claps his hands and returns to the centre of the circle, where he addresses the lads,
“She will now join our training.”
Some of the guys sigh, but they all stand up and greet me, congratulating me on a strong fight. Charles even came over to me and shook my hand, saying,
“It’s going to be interesting and I’m looking forward to practising with you.”
I started training the next day and quickly rose to the top of the class; the other Elders thought Elder Miles was crazy for allowing me, a girl, to train with all the boys, but it was Elder Miles who always smiled when I came out on top at the village fight days. Even though these combat days were merely practice and a grading test to assess where everyone was, they were always entertaining. After all the practice we do together, even with me being a girl, Charles became a dear friend of mine, and we always kept an eye out for each other during the tests.
At six feet, he towers over me, with sandy blonde hair and lovely sapphire blue eyes, but he, like me, has nice golden brown skin that has been darkened by him working and training in the sun. I discovered Charles was almost twenty-five after we became friends, and I’ve had a secret attraction for him since that first fight in front of Elder Miles. I’m not going to reveal to anyone, especially him, because I’m hoping he’ll feel the same way after I’m eighteen.
>YASMINE“So this is what it feels like to die… I thought it would have hurt more…” “But we aren’t truly dead, are we?” Zelda asks. “Yes, but No… We are in the in-between. The nothingness between life and death.” Lorelei answers. “So, how long we here for?” I ask, looking around at the endless darkness around us. “We are being held to our body through the power of the ancient dagger. So as long as nothing has happened to Zachariah, then we will return to our body once he removes the dagger and Summer performs the resurrection ritual...” “What happens if something has happened to Zachariah and he can’t remove the dagger and someone else does?” Zelda asks, getting more worried. “I don’t know and I hope that we never find out…” Lorelei says, finally not having the answer. “You have nothing to worry about, my daughter. Everything is as it should be. You can and will return to your loved ones soon.” I turn in the dark and just manage to spot the blue glow as it fades into the dar
The Final Battle Continues... She was off limits; she was the Masters; she was Kastrath's. The general forced the lower Demon back to their world as he landed and then took his place lying over the beautiful female that will be his Queen. Yasmine struggles against the new Demon but stops rather quickly as she feels the difference between the Demon that was just holding her to the one that is now. She looks into his bright red eyes and he seems to smirk at her before leaning down and running his double-forked tongue over her skin. Yasmine shivers in disgust and starts struggling again as the general leans down and pushes his rough, demonic voice into her head, “You, my dear female, are lucky that you are already claimed for if you weren't your life from now on, would be a nightmare for you, however; pure hell for me…” Yasmine tenses as she is then hit by her gift opening and entering into the Demon on
The Final Battle Continues…Zachariah wakes slowly, tightening his arms and only finding air. he reaches his hand out to be met with cold sheets. He sits up and looks around. He smiles to himself when he sees the light on in the bathroom and hears the shower running.Zachariah slips out of bed and walks over to the bathroom with every intention of joining his mate. However, the scene in front of him as he enters has him bewildered. He moves quickly, stepping into the shower and crouching in front of her, first grabbing her hands, stopping her from doing any more damage to her skin. Then he places one hand on her cheek as he scans her body, assessing the damage, stopping at the two bites he can see on the top swell of both breasts. He lets out a low growl, bringing her eyes to his. Zachariah doesn't get to say or do anything as Yasmine's resolve breaks completely and she jumps at him, whimpering."I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I coul
The Final Battle Begins!THIRD PERSON… Kastrath paces in his castle's realm. He had watched Young Yasmine live and grow. He had been watching the panther shifter bloodline and had known who and what she was from the moment she was born and had been watching over her ever since.Kastrath watched as she grew into a headstrong, fiery female that would make him proud and would be worthy of standing next to him as his Queen. He had known the moment Queen Margaret and King Jason had summoned him, that deep into the future they would provide something he had been looking for…Something that he had been searching for a millennium. Now he knew that he had to wait until after her mate had changed her first, forthe real her to be released. However, Kastrath hadn't taken into account just how powerful the Moon Goddesses' mate bond would be between them o
I struggle against his hold, trying to push him away from me until he tightens his arms around me and whispers in a low tone,“Now, now, my Queen. I am only here to congratulate you and to remind you that you can avoid all the bloodshed to come if you will just say yes and come with me now…”Even with the anger and conviction in my voice, as I say,“Never…”He just laughs, then moves one of his hands to my cheek as he takes a deep breath and says,“Mmm… So much fire… Just a few more weeks, my Queen and you will be mine.”He then holds me tighter against him as he presses his lips to mine before disappearing into his tentacles of grey smoke, leaving me to collapse to my knees as the smoke disappears. Zachariah runs over to where I am and helps me back to my feet as he whispers,“What happened? One minute you were there dancing in my arms, the next you were gone
I then place a soft kiss on his forehead as he steps back and into Summer's arms. She gets to her feet and bows before her and the others disappear and enter the throne room from another door. I stand up straight and take a deep breath before giving a slight nod to the two warriors that are once again standing guard at the doors.I hear the music as the doors open stop and the Royal announcement chimes ring out I take a step and enter the room and freeze just inside the door, I still hate being the centre of attention as everyone steps aside and bows, revealing a very handsome Zachariah standing in the middle of the room wearing a traditional Royal black tux. He smiles at me and opens our private link,“Yasmine, look at me and only at me. Remember…” With his voice in my head, I smile as a quick flash of the last time we did something like this and he had asked me in front of the whole pack to be his. I walk slowly toward him
I feel the bed dip and then feel his fingers lightly touch under my chin. He applies a little pressure, making me lift my head and look at him. Tears sting my eyes and one seems to escape. He then moves his hand to my cheek and wipes away the tear as he whispers,“It’s okay… Yasmine, it is a natural response. We didn’t get to spend the time we should have with them once they were born. So your protective instincts to do with them will be heightened for a little while.”I then snap my eyes to the door once more as there is a knock. Zachariah gives me a kiss on the cheek and then gets off the bed. As he leaves the room, he says,“Relax, I’ve got this. You lay down with our pups.”He closes the doors behind him and I do as he says and I lie down, wrapping my arms around my pups. I take a deep breath of their scents and then drift off into an exhausted sleep.**Dream** I look like a
As Zachariah talks to Jasper and the other Alpha, I walk up to Mary and give her a hug. When she pulls back, she steps to the side. With her arm around my waist, she says, “Yasmine, I would like to introduce you to Alpha Isaac's mates, Leah and Nyla.” “It’s nice to meet you both.” They both bow and then I think it's Nyla who steps a little closer and places her hand on mine as she whispers, “I am glad that Alpha Zachariah found you. He deserves to be happy, because if it wasn’t for him, then I wouldn’t have met my mate or found my sister…” I feel as all her walls drop and she opens herself up, and just as Darius said I can’t control it as my power flows from me into her and I see everything that was her life, I can’t stop the tears that fill my eyes and then slide down my cheeks at all the suffering she went through at the hands of Valentino. As with Alpha Clive, Zachariah seems to be standing behind me when my power returns to me and I sway on my feet. Zachariah wraps his arms a
I look around the room at the pack that is in the room casting its vote. Most of them have stopped and are looking at me and Zachariah. Zachariah follows my gaze as it passes over the room. He smiles, turns so that he is now facing the room and says,“If you will excuse us, but family is calling. Please continue to cast your votes.”When he turns back to me, I look at him with wide eyes and whisper, shocked,“But don’t we have to be here for this?”“Technically, yes, but we haven’t seen much of Darius since we have been here, and I can feel that being with him is what you need, so that is what we will do. We can count and look at the votes tomorrow.”Then, without another word, he steps up to me, grabs me around the waist, throws me over his shoulder and then walks out of the throne room. I lift my head just as he steps out of the doors to see Alpha Clive with a smirk on his face before he turns his attention back to his pack and the voting going on around him. True to his word, Zach
