Prologue- Welcome Death

Megan

I lay on the floor the body of my year-old son next to me. I am losing blood I can feel it draining out of me. I am welcoming death to come. Then I can be with my mate and son. Tears slowly fall as I look at my son. I can’t move. I don’t know where the body of my mate is, but I know he is dead. I felt the bond painfully break the moment they killed him. I tried to hide with my son only for them to sniff me out and find me. They grabbed my son Gabriel from my arms and in front of me broke his little neck, killing him instantly. I heard a woman’s scream and knew it was me. I couldn’t stop the screaming and knelt next to my son’s body and sobbed.

In my grief, I didn’t hear the footsteps behind me until I felt the rogue's teeth clamp onto my left shoulder piercing the artery on my neck and making me lose a lot of blood. I collapsed on the floor unconscious.

I don’t know how long I was out but when I opened my eyes next, I was next to my son’s body. I only had strength enough to reach out my hand and grab his tiny hand in mine. I stayed like that just waiting for death. I welcomed death. Then I close my heavy eyes for the last time.

Chapter One- Savior
Nathan “Over here.” I heard my beta yell as I look around at the carnage of what used to be the Running River pact. We received a distress call from them and came as quick as we could only to be too late. I step over bodies and walk towards the room my beta Jonathan called me from and saw him kneeling next to a woman. “Nate, she is still breathing but barely.” I walk over and the scene before me is heartbreaking. Chapter Two- Not Dead
Megan Everything is dark. I can’t see anything. Is this what being dead is like? I was hoping to see my mate, my little son. Where am I? Chapter Three- Alpha Business
NathanI am in my office going over the details of what happened to the Running River pack. I know it was a rogue attack, but I have never heard of them hitting a pack this big. What was the reason? What was going through their feral mind? How is it they left my mate alive? Or did they believe she was dead? So many questions and no answers. Chapter Four- Alpha Send-Off
MeganIt has been a couple of days since I woke. I have been wandering and exploring the Packhouse of the Blue Lake Pack. Julie has been great and keeping me company. MeganI was walking around and getting acquainted with the pack and discovered they have high respect for their Alpha. I also have noticed how they address me as Luna. I am not sure I am ready to be a Luna for another pack as yet, but with them being so kind to me I haven’t the heart to correct them.
