Every person has an angel that watches over them to ensure that they make the rigth decision when possible. Everyone except Josie. Josie Tria has always seen the angelic beings, watching over each human, and when she turns twenty-two, she just about gives up on the hope that maybe she too has a guardian angel. But Josie is different, and she's not sure it's a good thing. When she walks near the angels, they cower in fear, and run from her. Then, everything changes when instead of her guardian angel appears, it turns out to be a demon, named Loss. Loss is hiding something from her, something Josie is determined to figure out. The beginning
I was only thirteen when I watched my mother die. She had been battling a mysterious illness that doctors couldn't pinpoint. They forced her to take chemo, treating it like cancer. And I was there for all of it. My father hadn't been a part of my life in a long time, leaving when I was just a baby. And I wish I could say it was great between my mother and I but I'd be lying. Moher had gotten on to me many times, screaming that I deserved to be place in the loony bin because I came to her each time I saw an angel walking next to a person. She thought it was cute at first, since I first started telling her about them when I was six. Seven years later though, I still told her about them, and about six months ago, she put me on a medication that "helped" the things I saw. I lied though, stating that there were no angels, which seemed to make Mother happy. Throughout this though, she got sicker, and sicker, huge bruises covering her entire body, and the left side of her

Unfortunate events
Tammy had fought the courts, as they tried to place me in a foster care home. She showed them a note that my mother had wrote before she had passed. That had helped a lot, the courts granting permission that I live with her instead of some strangers. Once I got settled into Tammy's house, I got to meet both of her kids, Sabrina, and her younger brother Sam who was fifteen. Although related, they were more different; Sabrina was a quiet, studious girl, whose dream was to become a nurse like her mother. Every other weekend, she was volunteering at a nursing home, or in her room studying. Sam was more of a rebel; he took more of the appearance of his father, having curly borwn hair, and dark brown eyes. He was always smiling, active in sports, and games. Though he didn't take school as seriously as Sabrina, he was always holed up in her room, trying to study for the big tests. I of course was the oddball out. Though I was grateful I could call this pla

New home, new me, and the stranger I can see
This time around, I'm at the pool, only my legs in the water, enjoying the sun rays. Summer is almost close to an end, so I'm trying to enjoy it as much as I can. I close my eyes, the heat nice on my skin, my legs cooled off by the pool's water. I've been at my apartment for about a week and a half now, and though Tammy tries to come over almost every day, I tell her it's time for her to relax, and do some her time. She's been sending videos of herself going for walks, and enjoying the sun, and now when I see her smile, it doesn't look forced , or filled with anxiety. Since I injured myself, the angels fear me. They try to avoid me as much as possible, and their fear goes to the humans they're assigned to. They part from me as if I have a means to hurt them, and even after all the research I've done, I've come up with zero results as to why they would be scared of me. I've tried to accept it, but I'm always reminded of the fact, because I can see them every time I

Visitor
"Get OUT!" I screamed, scrambling for my towel, and wrapping it tightly around my body. I could feel myself shaking in rage, my face flushed with embarassment. My visitor seemed unbothered, leaning forward as he stared at me, clearly bored. "Well, now you're boring." he said, and again I could feel the goosebumps spread on my arms, the deepness of his voice surprising me. Although I was fuming, I could now get a better look at the guy; he had inky black hair, that was messy, and fell in front of his red black eyes, skin brown with a strange gray hue. He wore a black button up with the sleeves rolled up, dark gray pants, and running shoes that were a mix of red and black. He clapsed his hands in front of himself, staring at me with a strange curiosity. I could feel the blush go from my face to my chest, my hand balled into a fist."How did you even get in here?" I demanded, seeing that the door was still closed and the windows unopened. The guy shrugged his shoulders, as if he was t

When questions arise
I was nearly fired. Waking up to the sound of my alarm, I was sure that yesterday was a dream. But as I got up to go to the restroom, I saw the plastic bags of the food that had been ordered, the sink filled with the dishes. So yes, everything that went on yesterday had been very much real. I brushed my teeth, washed my face, brushing the tangles in my hair as I slipped on a plain shirt, and grabbed my laptop. Logging in, I typed my employee I.D., and slid on my headset. The clinic didn't open until eight-thirty, but I still had to be there to handle the calls, and insurance queries. My focus just wasn't there though. It was on Loss, and his stupid remarks and his somewhat pretty eyes. I answered another call, trying not to lose my patience when a thirty something Karen called to complain about a vaccine that we hadn't gotten into the clinic just yet. She wanted to speak to someone, not me, not someone else. As we talked in circles, I could feel the l

Humor me
My shift was over, and I clocked out, slamming my laptop shut. I could feel a headache forming, and I rubbed my temples, closing my eyes. A sweet scent hit my nostrils, and I opened my eyes to see Loss holding out a mug to me. "It's tea." he replied, as I took it in both hands. "Thank you." I replied, taking a sip of it. He watched me closely, eyes taking in all of my movements. A slight blush began to form, and I cleared my throat, setting my tea down on the table. "I have alot of questions Loss, and you seem to be the one with all of the answers." I said, as he took a seat in front of me. He was too close then, his hand on my thigh, staring at me calmly. He also did way too much eye contact, and I could feel another blush forming in embarassment. "What are you doing?" I asked instead, refusing to look away from his gaze. "Trying to peel back the glamour that makes you human, of course." he replied, placing a hand on my face. He tilted my head up, and stared directly into my eye

Understanding
Loss seemed unconcerned as he shrugged his shoulders, walking up to me to ensure I was safe and secure. I shook him off, waiting for his answer and he sighed. "Look, I can project my form when I want to be seen or not. You just have the gift to see me all the time and the other angels." he replied, plopping down on my couch. Which reminded me... "What are you here for exactly?" I asked, staring him down. As per usual, Loss looked uninterested, messing with the cushions on my couch instead. I was getting tired of his little games, and the no answering bit. If he kept this up, I was going to smack him. Loss sighed when he realized that I wasn't going to budge from this question no matter what, and he sighed, sitting up. "I'm your Guardian, Josie, yes this is true. But I'm also on a mission to find someone, before the others do first." he replied, face serious, voice somber. The way he said others sent a chill down my spine and I tried to hide it, busying

Dinner
When I had calmed down, I rinsed myself off, slipping into a robe, and scrubbing the water out of my hair. I heard a knock at the door, and then Loss opening it, as voices were exchanged, and then one leaving. As I stepped out of the restroom, I could see Loss fixing the table for the both of us to eat, the delicous smell of pizza hitting me. My stomach grumbled, and I walked to the chair, sitting across from him. He flashed a smile at me, and I timidly smiled back. "Are you okay?" he asked, placing his warm hand on mine. "Yes, I wanted to thank you for helping me." I replied, holding his hand. "I've come to realize that maybe I shouldn't leave you out of my sight after all. I mean, I;m not supposed to leave at all, but you were asking for alot of information I can't give at this time." he explained. I nodded, taking a slice of pepperoni pizza from the box, and eating it, the hot cheese burning my mouth. He smiled softly though, handing me a cup that looked l

Hide away
I had alot of questions I wanted to ask him. Needed to because there was no way I was uprooting my life with no explaination. And I think he saw that look in my eyes, because he gave me the run down on what was going on with everything. There was a war brewing and it all started wiht a missing demoness princess. She had allied with the fallen angels, and even some halflings (the offspring of humans and angels) that were wanting revenge on the angels. "There's something corrupt going on over there in Heaven as well." Loss commented, and he disappeared before reappearing. "I got you some tickets, I think we should move south from here as they're going ot try to stay away from the more south regions." he said, as he began to pack up my items, materializing a suitcase from thin air. "Why are they attacking though?" I asked, feeling my eye twitch a bit. "They got tired of waiting and decided to take matter into their own hands." he replied, and honestly, I got their vi

Second home
My eyes flash open, and there's a pain in my chest that makes it difficult for me to breathe. Using muscle memory, I yank down the glove compartment, and search desperately for the blue inhaler I keep stored in there. Nothing but papers, and straws are in there, and I press the palm of my hand to my chest, trying to apply pressure so I can breathe better. Warm hands touch me, and I flinch, wheezing a bit. It's Loss, and last night's events crash down on me, and he looks confused and concerned. "Inhaler..." I gasp out, and his face changes as he places his warm hands on under my breasts. A rush of warmth heats up, and I flinch away in case it gets too hot. But it doesn't; it stays the same heat, and gradually, breathing becomes easier. When he see the lack of strain on my face, he removes his hands. "Are you okay?" he asks, tucking a strand of my hair away from my face. "Yeah sorry, I had a asthma attack. It started because of my nightmare..." I trailed off, th
