What Are The Best Covers Of 'Don'T Let Me Down'?

When it comes to covers of “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Beatles, there are countless interpretations out there, but some are just way better than others. I’ll begin with the version by Tyga and The Chainsmokers, the collaboration I was most curious to check out because of the hip-hop twist. And I was totally blown away. The way the two parties mixed the tracks gave the whole song an entirely new vibe, full of energy, which totally surpassed my expectations. The Hip-Hop stars managed to preserve the funky and upbeat feel of “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Beatles and also included a great summer video for the song as well, showcasing people enjoying life and celebrating.

However, there is a version by the band Dirty Loops that blew my mind. They managed to create a jazzy version of “Don’t Let Me Down” with incredible instrumentation that created little dance parties in every note. They managed to bring new life to the song, while retaining the core of the song and making it even more emotional. This week, I have been playing this song whilst driving around with friends as it is a great track to play over and over again. A jazzy take on a modern song – well done Dirty Loops!

As for acoustic covers, one of my guilty pleasures is a piano cover of ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ performed by a young YouTube musician named Hailey Rahn. The raw emotion in the cover is beautiful and it makes the song sound very intimate. I found this cover during a random YouTube late-night session and ever since, I have been hooked to this song. Often, I listen to this song when I am doing my homework, or even when I am preparing a meal in the kitchen. It creates a really calm atmosphere.

One cover I enjoyed was We Came as Romans. The way they worked to incorporate their style of rock into “Don’t Let Me Down” really worked. When listening to this cover, the energy really elevates, and I really enjoy how they brought their perspective to this song while still following the original lyrics. This would be an excellent song for a jam session and has really gotten me pumped up to play this during band practice. Sometimes I even find myself singing it in the car.

And then there's Jason Chen's acoustic cover of 'Don't Let Me Down' (which I first saw on YouTube), a beautiful stripped down version of the song that I would love to put on a relaxing playlist for hanging out by the fire and really having good heart to heart talks with friends. A really good acoustic cover gives a new poignant spin to the original song and for some reason this just resonates with me.
