His childlike curiosity and boundless enthusiasm for everything (especially pancakes!) make him impossible not to root for. Then we meet DJ, the grounded, kind-hearted kid who finds Hilo and becomes his first human friend. DJ's the relatable everykid, struggling with feeling ordinary next to his overachieving siblings, but his loyalty and quick thinking shine when it matters most. And let's not forget Gina, DJ's fiercely independent childhood friend who's equal parts skeptical and brave—her sharp wit and no-nonsense attitude balance out Hilo's chaos perfectly.

What I adore about this trio is how their dynamic feels so genuine.
