Honestly, I think people oversell the big twists. The core plot is a pretty standard chosen-one-vs-destiny thing. Anya learns she can see fate, gets trained, discovers the system is corrupt, rebels. The first major twist about Order being the real villain is telegraphed pretty early if you're paying attention to Kaelen's overly strict lessons.
The second book's twist is better, where it turns out the Loom itself is sentient and has been manipulating both sides to maintain its own existence, making the whole Order vs Chaos war a puppet show. That genuinely surprised me. Still, the character work is what kept me reading—Anya's frustration with seeing possible futures but feeling powerless to change them felt very real.

Twist-wise, the biggest one for me wasn't a lore bomb but a character moment. When Anya's childhood friend, Leo, whose thread she's been protecting the whole time, willingly asks her to cut it so he can escape a predetermined 'hero's death,' it reframed the whole book. It's less about epic forces and more about personal agency. The plot is essentially Anya wrestling with the ethics of her power—if you can see a tragic future, do you prevent it even against someone's will? That conflict drives everything, and the twists just escalate that dilemma.

So I've been obsessed with this series, and the main plot basically revolves around a metaphysical conflict between ancient forces of Order and Chaos, which is all tied to this concept called 'The Loom of Fate'. The protagonist, Anya, gets pulled into it because she's a 'Weaver', someone who can see and potentially manipulate the threads of destiny. The key twist in the first book is that the supposedly benevolent Order is actually trying to impose a rigid, lifeless fate on the world, while Chaos isn't about destruction but about free will and unpredictable potential. That blew my mind when I first read it.
Another huge twist comes later when you find out Anya's mentor, Master Kaelen, isn't just teaching her to maintain the Loom—he's been subtly steering her towards unraveling it to serve Order's true goal. The book ends on a cliffhanger where Anya, realizing she's been a pawn, deliberately severs a major thread, causing a catastrophic 'knot' that throws the futures of multiple kingdoms into complete disarray. It sets up the next book perfectly, leaving you wondering if she just doomed everyone or saved them from a worse fate.
I also loved the subplot with the rogue Weaver, Silas. His backstory reveal that he was originally from the Chaos faction but was cast out for being too radical adds so many layers to the central conflict.

Book 1 Synopsis:
Eliza Singer is an extraordinary girl living a double life: on stage, she captivates audiences as the famous singer Lisa; in secret, she is a powerful she-wolf born among humans. Due to an urgent summons from the clans, she is forced to move to the village of Siram, home to a small werewolf clan, seeking refuge with her grandmother—far from the relentless pressure of the formidable Singer family.
For the first time, she glimpses the possibility of a normal life, hoping to live as an ordinary student, but that won’t be as easy as she expects. Labeled as half-human by the clan because of her upbringing among humans, she faces prejudice and underestimation.
Amidst these challenges, she meets her fated mate—the clan’s Alpha heir—who looks down on her based on rumors about her origins. Unwilling to accept his cold indifference, she seeks ways to take control of her situation, defying traditions and choosing her own destiny. The question remains: will the heir realize the truth in time, or will Eliza rise above fate, securing her freedom to love whomever she chooses?

I'm assuming you're talking about the 'Destiny' series by Marie D. Jones? If so, the core is really more about this metaphysical concept of a web of fate rather than following specific characters from start to finish. It's not a novel with a cast in the traditional sense—it's nonfiction exploring synchronicity and destiny. So there aren't 'characters' like in a story. The 'roles' are more like perspectives: the skeptic, the believer, the scientist, the mystic, all presented through case studies and historical figures.
Honestly, if you picked it up expecting a narrative, you'd be pretty lost. It's more of a thought-experiment book. The central 'character' is arguably the idea of destiny itself, and the 'roles' are the different ways humans have tried to understand or define it throughout history. It's a deep dive, but not one for plot lovers.
Frankly, 'Destiny' felt like it was building toward a massive twist, and it delivered in a way I didn't expect. The final act hinges on a revelation about the protagonist's lineage—something hinted at but cleverly buried in earlier character interactions. I won't spoil the exact nature of it, but the ending reframes the entire central conflict, making the antagonist's motives far more personal and tragic than they first appeared.
That said, the biggest surprise for me wasn't the plot twist itself, but the emotional fallout. The book doesn't end with a neat resolution after the reveal; it ends with the characters sitting in the wreckage of that truth, unsure how to move forward. It's less a 'gotcha!' moment and more a quiet, devastating shift in perspective that lingered with me.
The big one is definitely the protagonist realizing they're not the 'Destiny Killer' at all—they're the contingency plan created by the original, real Destiny Killer to take the fall. The whole novel builds this myth around this anarchic figure dismantling fate itself, and our POV character buys into it, fights the system, gathers followers... only for the final confrontation to reveal they're a crafted decoy. The real manipulator has been using their very public rebellion as a smokescreen to execute a much quieter, more profound rewrite of reality's rules from within the establishment. It reframes every prior act of defiance as a scripted performance.
What hit me hardest wasn't the twist itself, but how it recontextualized the mentor character. That gruff, cynical guide who taught the 'hero' how to see the threads of destiny? Totally in on it. Their moments of seeming frustration or pride were just an act to sell the lie. It makes the second read-through incredibly bleak—every moment of genuine connection feels hollowed out. The novel doesn't even offer a clean victory after; the protagonist is left with a choice between exposing the truth and collapsing their movement's meaning, or living the lie to preserve the hope they've given others. Brutal.
