The good friend

The chill breeze along with the sparking rays of the raising sun brought a red and bright shade to my closed eyes. I could feel the very lively surroundings and smell my freedom that was almost achieved. Just as I was about to my eyes I could feel the tiny weed saplings tickle my leg with the winds force. The smell of nature was so lovely that I would do no matter what it takes to never return to 'Zeon orphanage'. I take a deep breath and open my eyes ready for today's fight, Armed with strength and confidence yet no physical weapons. I look around and all I see is greenery and a beautiful sight.

At 'Zeon, all I could see was the cemented walls. The only day I could see light was when the investors came by and the management wanted to deceive them. My friends, orphans like me would do anything to get out of there but luckily I made it. After what happen last night, I don't even know if I would ever meet them again.

The chirping of the little lovely birds brought me back to my reality. I need to run, run to not get trapped and live a prisoners life again. A tiny bug creeps onto my left shoulder from the rock I was laying on,

' You little soul, trying to scare me? ' I speak and the bug gives me no reply and continues on it's journey down to my palm and to the ground. I decide its time to find our journey without getting distracted just like this bug. I stand up and look at the forest around me ' from which way did I come into the forest?' I question and look around to see something familiar in the trees and fail.

'Lets just walk around, a path will appear eventually.' I tell myself and take walk ahead deeper into the wildness.

After hours of searching for an out path and failing I decide to give in and find some food to have. Most of the trees are just fruitless or with raw fruits, 'nothing suitable to eat'. I hear a scream from behind the bushes at a distance 'What did I hear? Is it spirits?' I question myself but get interrupted by another scream for help from the same direction 'seems to be coming from a single individual' I guess and walk further into the direction of the sound source.

'Hey, could you give me a hand please? I think I sprained my leg' speaks a stranger from around my age. We must be of the same age, I think.

'Sure. Does it hurt a lot? ' I ask her as I help us stand.

'You see me. How do I look? Its killing me, of course.' the stranger speaks and puts her hand on my shoulder and asks me to share her weight.

'You sure, don't need a piggyback?' I ask concerned.

'Nah. Not that bad. I can manage. Just help me to my tent'

'Tent? what are you doing in the middle of this wildness in a tent?' I question eager.

'I wanted a break from my family. So I took a break and yes here I am' she speaks with pride in her voice.

'Here you are, injured' I say, stressing on the last word and she laughs. 'That way, to the tent' and points out to the west direction.

We reach her tent, a big black and orange shaded bag. She zips down the opening and gets herself inside after a little effort.

'You okay now?' I ask.

'Will be, soon. What are you doing here anyway? Are you camping as well?'

'No, definitely not. I'm leaving, I say.' as i'm not very sure if telling my story would be the right thing to do at the moment.

'Stay for a while. I can't entertain myself in this condition' she speaks and eyes at her toe.

'I think you need a dressing. The hurts not looking very good. I speak concerned.

'Its not very bad and I don't know how to do a dressing'

'Well, I do. I can help you with it.' I sit into the tent and ask if she has a piece of extra cloth and start doing the required.

'What's your name and what are you doing in this wildness? She asks my curious.

'My bad. Sorry I completely forgot about the introduction part.' we both burst out laughing and I speak first 'I'm Laura'

'Hi Laura, I'm Jessica and you still haven't answered my question.' speaks Jessica. I finish the dressing and look us to her curious eyes finally give in,

'I ran away from my residence' I say and see a sudden fondness grow in Jessica's eyes.

'You did what?' she asks smiling.

'I ran away' I say it louder this time.

'We're gonna be the best of friends' Jessica speaks laughing through the words.

'And how do you know that?' I ask

'Well, I ran away from my home as well. My step brothers are really a piece of trash and my dad does nothing about it.' She speaks as a water drop forms at the edge of her eyes.

'I'm sorry. Is your mother....? I try to make the question but get interrupted ' Nah. She isn't dead yet, that lady is all nice is fine. She left me as a baby and never returned. I don't care about her, I never did' Jessica speaks with a heavy tone and continues ' That's all about me. Time for your story now.'

'There isn't much to mine. I'm a orphan.... I never knew my parents and the orphanage I grew up is has a president who is a real asshole. Anyway i've escaped now. I need to keep running or they're going to get me back as they don't want to spoil their good reputation.'

'They're not going to get you Laura. I won't let them take away my best friend. They're done for then!'

'I'm sorry Jessica. Did you say best friend?' I stutter.

'Yes Laura. I called you my best friend' she repeats and goes on 'As I said earlier, we're going to be the best of friends'

'Thank you. I never thought I would make a friend outside the orphanage. Thank to you I have a friend now' I say emotionally.

'Oh my girl, what's all this emotion for. Lets live our live happily hereafter and do everything we never got to do' she speaks loudly.

'Definitely. I'm in' I say happily but my stomach isn't.

'Here have some sandwich. I packed supplies for two week but with the two of us, it would only last a week.' saying so she hands me the foil wrapped pack.'

'Thank you' I start unwrapping. Jessica lays back on the tent and relaxes herself and falls asleep in no time. Maybe she didn't sleep well last night, thinking so I continue eating.

'What are you looking at?' She questions me after hours of sleeping in the tent.

'Isn't it beautiful' I speak.

'Nature? Ofcourse it is. There is never a question about it'

'Yeah, but I really haven't taken the time to admire it until now.'

'You can always do it from now on' she speaks in a cheerful tone.

'Did you sleep well?' I ask guessing the answer.

'Like an animal.' she giggles to her own answer.

'How is your leg? Is it any better now?' I ask.

She replies after examining her leg 'Look, its perfectly alright' and rotates it to prover her point.

'That's wonderful. You can entertain yourself now!' I say laughing.

'Nah. You better keep me company.' and joins my laugh 'Let's go for a walk'

'The sun's setting already and you what to go for a walk. We might get lost in the dark.' I point out.

'We'll take care of that. Let's go' and makes her way out if the tent dragging me and a torch along.

'What are we looking for?' I question.

'Nothing specific yet.' she speaks in a carefree tone.

After minutes of natures praise we found something sparkle from behind the bushes.

'What's that?' I ask

'Maybe a jewel. Let's go check it out' saying so Jessica leads the path. We walk through the bushes and notice the sparkle was from the insides of a pit.

'It looks ancient.' Jessica commented and I nodded.

'Should we go and find out?' I ask wondering.

'I didn't think you would say that' Jessica giggles.

'Maybe its a bad idea. The sun has almost set, maybe we could check it out tomorrow.'

'Definitely not. Let's find out now.' she urges.

'Fine' I say surrendering.

We pluck the tiny weeds on the cemented entrance and move away the heavy rock closing the pit. It took a few seconds for us to view the entrance clearly due to the darkness and dust accompanied by spider webs.

'Its not a pit, its a tunnel' I speak.

'Exactly, let's check it out'

We proceed further into the tunnel with the help of our torch.

'What place is this?' I ask as there was no web nor a brick fallen throughout our way, it looked clean and tidy for an ancient tunnel.

'I have no answer' speaks Jessica. We reach a silver painted wall.

'Why is this wall not Grey like the others?' I ask.

'Maybe it has a secret behind it, one can hardly make out the colour difference' Jessica points out.

'You're right. Wait. Are you sure we're doing this? There could be anything behind the wall.'

'Of course we are. I'm up for any adventure and i'm sure so are you. Its not like we have someone who would look for us if we go missing. So let's live our life.' Jessica assures me and nods.

'Alright then lets do it' I agree. We touch the wall simultaneously and just before we could exert any force, the wall lit and we had to shut our eyes to the brightness. It felt like we were holding the tubelight and someone turned it on.

'What was that?' I ask as I try to peep through my closed eyes. I open them fully as the view I was expecting wasn't there. We weren't in the tunnel anymore.

'Laura, where are we?' I hear Jessica.

'I'm not sure.' I say examining the surroundings. We were on a tiny hill. 'Did we teleport?'

'That's the only answer but where are we? Lets go downhill and find out.'

We begin walking downhill carefully.

'The buildings look different'

'Yes it does.' I say as we reach the end of the hill. 'Whom do we enquire with? We can't just go up to a stranger and ask which place this is, right?' I wonder loud.

'Maybe lets walk into that restaurant and think of something' Jessica suggests and we follow the way and enter the restaurant.

'Let's split up. You try to figure what do we eat and i'll get some worthy information on our location.' I say and walk up to the counter.

'Hello Sir, I'm here to gather some information?' I say and continue ' How do you think the carbon release will impact earth as a citizen of the united states?' I wait for the answer now. 'Miss i'm not sure what you are expecting me to answer.' he says.

I read his name from his ID CARD 'Tony' it read. Mr. Tony, i'm asking you how much do you care about saving our Earth? I repeat. ' Hold on miss, What's earth? Why haven't I heard if it in my long life?'

'Wait what. What do you call this planet?' I ask.

'Our planet is called Bazoda and it has no nickname called Earth'

'Bazoda?' I ask again and Mr. Tony nods certainly.
