Man, trying to count those is like trying to remember the order of all those power-ups. The main line has seven books, if you're talking about the original 'Spirit Animals' series. That's 'Wild Born' through 'Evertide'.
But there's also that whole 'Tales of the Great Beasts' spinoff set, which is four more. I never got through all of those because the plots started feeling kinda samey after a while. If you mean strictly the core series that follows the four kids, though, it's those seven.
You can usually find them all listed on the official Scholastic site, but checking a library app is way easier to see the reading order.

Seven books. 'Wild Born', 'Hunted', 'Blood Ties', 'Fire and Ice', 'Against the Tide', 'Rise and Fall', and 'Evertide'. That's the core sequence. The bind-up collections sometimes shuffle the numbering, so stick to those individual titles.

Wait, are we counting just the novels with the green covers, or the special editions too? My nephew's been collecting these, and it's a mess. The 'Fall of the Beasts' sub-series is six books, but that continues the story, so technically the whole thing is thirteen books if you combine both arcs.
I'd argue the first seven function as a complete story, and the rest is a sequel series. Honestly, the character shifts in the later ones lost me a bit; it felt like they were stretching the concept.

I'm stuck at trying to get people into this series because the reading order is genuinely a bit of a mess? The first book is 'Wild Born' and you absolutely have to start there. Then you go into the 'Against the Tide' and 'Rise and Fall' trilogies—those four-book sets follow different sets of kids and animals. I think you're meant to jump between them as they were published, but honestly, reading each mini-series straight through works better. I tried the alternating way and kept forgetting which giant turtle or spider belonged to who. The 'Fall of the Beasts' books come later, but the shift in tone is jarring; some folks tap out before then.
What really helped me was just sticking with one set of characters at a time, starting with 'Wild Born', then all four books about Conor, Abeke, Meilin, and Rollan, before moving to the next group. The publisher's website has a list, but it reads like a subway map. Just keep the character guide from the first book handy.
The 'Spirit Animals' series has been such a fun ride! For the second series, titled 'Spirit Animals: Fall of the Beasts,' there are a total of six books. I binge-read them all last summer, and each one kept me hooked with its blend of adventure and fantasy. The way the authors expanded the world and introduced new challenges for the characters was brilliant. My personal favorite was the third book—it had this epic showdown that left me on the edge of my seat.
If you're into middle-grade fantasy with lots of action and teamwork, this series is a must. The second series builds beautifully on the first, and six books felt just right to wrap up the new arc. I’ve been recommending it to younger cousins and friends who love 'Percy Jackson' or 'Warriors.'
Trying to figure out the reading order for the 'Spirit Animals' books tripped me up at first because the series structure isn't straightforward. It's split between the main 'Fall of the Beasts' storyline and the 'Tales of the Great Beasts' companion books.
My advice is to stick with the publisher's numbered sequence for the core novels. That means starting with 'Wild Born' (Book 1) and going through 'Against the Tide' (Book 7). The Great Beasts stories are prequels that slot in around Books 3 and 4, but you won't be lost if you read the main seven first. I found the simplest list on the Scholastic website itself, which lists them all chronologically.
For buying them online, Amazon or Bookshop.org have the full sets, and you can often find them bundled. My library's OverDrive had all the ebooks and audiobooks in order, which saved me a ton of hassle and money.
Back when I was reading the main 'Spirit Animals' books, I was so into the world that I hunted down everything. After the seven books of the first series, there's a direct sequel series called 'Fall of the Beasts' that picks up the story. That's another four books.
There are also some companion stories. 'Tales of the Great Beasts' is a collection that digs into the backstories of the legendary animals, and it fits in after the original series. I think there's a book called 'The Book of Shane' that focuses on that character, too.
Reading order gets tricky with the special editions. The 'Special Edition' of the first book, 'Wild Born', has extra content, but it's the same core story. My advice? Read the main seven, then 'Tales of the Great Beasts', then jump into the four 'Fall of the Beasts' books. The Shane book can slot in anytime after you know who he is. The lore in the companion books really made the conflicts in 'Fall of the Beasts' hit harder for me.
