Snow fell thick and fast, just like the winter when I left home for her three years ago. Only this time, I sat in a heated car, clutching to recovered locket. Meanwhile, Tanya shuddered in the cold. Those who hurt in love would get their due. No deed would go unseen in the eyes of God. Justice would never be denied.

Right at the top of my feed was a new post from Katy. In the photo, she wore a Van Cleef & Arpels clover necklace around her neck and held the same red gift bag Kit had picked up from home earlier. That’s when it hit me. He had returned at noon just to grab her present. Below the image was a caption that made my stomach turn: [Three years of knowing you, and I’m so lucky to have you, Kit. Happy third anniversary!] Then it dawned on me. Anniversary? That’s right. Today was supposed to be our third wedding anniversary.

“We’ve been competing for lifetimes. It would be strange to stop now.” That pulled a laugh out of me before I could stop it. For the first time in a very long while, it came easily. The past was still there. Some things always would be. But it no longer weighed the same. After three ruined lives, Ivy and I were no longer fighting over the same wolf. At last, we were walking toward lives that belonged to us.

Too happy to oblige, and I swiftly return to the Duke's office, standing in front of the bookshelf, trying to decide what book would show-off my 21st Century education. 18 My eyes fall on Homer's "The Odyssey." Perfect! I snatch the leather-bound book and return to the bedroom. Once inside, Bryce is sitting on a wooden seat with an empty stool beside him. He is sitting close to one of the burning candles on a floor stand. "What book had you chosen?" "'The Odyssey,' my lord," I tell him, trying to keep my voice neutral and bored. I do not want to give away my eagerness to prove my higher education. "Very well. Sit, and you may begin," Bryce states while studying me curiously. I can

"Are you ready for your threesome tonight?" "I'm ready, but I'm still worried that it's too soon for Vincent. He only did his first scene the other day," I say as I sit on the couch opposite them both. "He's ready, it's not like he's a virgin. Has he had a threesome before?" Marcus asks me. "He said he's had a threesome in the past but this is different because it's bdsm," I say. "He'll be fine! He can safeword if he needs too," Marcus says and I nod.

So I uploaded it immediately before my brain tried to betray me again. Will there be a Book Three? Well… maybe in a year, maybe in a month, maybe never. Evil author giggle. 🤭✌️ If you made it to the end, just know I love you more than Juan loves control. Thank you for reading, screaming, crying, and surviving this mess with me. Book Three: The Mafia’s Queen (coming… whenever it decides to come.) For now… let me rest. I’ve earned it. 😭❤️

I managed to speak and he left me. That was exactly how he acted when he wasn't being violent and heartless. Sometimes it made me wonder if he was two different persons. Maybe this was a plan to make me have no complete reason to leave him. He was as manipulative as the devil and no matter how nice he acted, I never got fooled because it was all an act. My phone rang by my side. It was Tricia. I picked it up and placed it on her ear. "How'd it go?" "Well I didn't find any," she said and I immediately felt discouraged. "But, there's news going around that my boss at my workplace wants to employ new workers. What do you think?"

*** When I woke up, Johan was sitting on the edge of the bed, shirtless and smoking. He heard me move and looked back. A check landed on the bed in front of me. I stared at it. He only said a few words. "I'm bored with you." Something inside me cracked. Like porcelain shattering, sharp pieces cut across my heart. Still, my voice came out calm. I even smiled. "I've got less than three months left. Couldn't you wait a little longer?" Johan frowned. "Yara Yelton, you should know your place."
