Tom pointed at the barren apartment. “Eve and Jordan have seven years of history together. “We’ve all seen how Eve’s been with Jordan these past seven years.”

There was a freshly baked cake on the table, but I never got the chance to eat them. As I closed my eyes for the last time, my mind was still replaying past events. After my death, my soul drifted in the sky. I heard that after one dies, they could become a spirit for three days to accompany their loved ones. I returned to my wife’s side, watching her start a new life. I remembered the last man I saw next to her. I vaguely remembered that his name was Ronan. During those three days as a soul, I kept my distance from her.

Liz frowned. “It’s our name. I’m Seven,” the brunette said, pointing at the curly-haired girl. “That’s Eight. We came in together. And the one over there is Fifteen. I guess you’ll be Sixty-Seven.” She mulled it over for a moment, counting on her fingers before concluding that Liz was indeed the sixty-seventh girl brought in. Liz thought the whole thing was some kind of sick joke. Being named after numbers? Had things really gotten that bad? “But what are your real names?”

Every damn time. So we made a deal. Each pregnancy, one mate gets to pick all three names. Hermes picked first—hence the very Greek names: Brison, Calix, and Demetrios. This time, it’s Alex’s turn. He has a theme. He’s picked the names. But he won’t tell anyone what they are. To keep track, we decided to go alphabetically. Alex is “A.” Hermes will take “H.” Jake and I both cover “J.”

“We need to start finalizing names. Two weeks is not a lot of time.” Ana hums softly. It’s the most relaxed sound I’ve heard from her in days. “Something strong,” Greta continues. “But not too… intimidating.” Ana shifts slightly. “No weird names.” Greta laughs. “Define weird.” “Anything that sounds like it belongs to a seventy-year-old Alpha with ten wives.” Despite myself, the corner of my mouth twitches. Greta flips a page. “Okay… what about Adrian?” Ana shakes her head. “Too common.”

Jay replied, “You all have one.” Angeline explained, “Daddy already thought of new names for all of you while we were in Mount Pearl.” Angeline said, “Three’s name is Lilynn Ares. Four’s name is Susan Ares. Six’s name is Roxie Ares. Seven’s name is Chancy Ares. Eight’s name is Quinn Ares. Lil Ten’s name is Brooke Ares. Lil Eleven is Demi Ares. Lil Twelve is Darra Ares, and last but not least, Thirteen is Enya Ares. The elder sisters’ names were given to you by Daddy based on your personalities. Since the younger sisters are still young, their names all symbolize something small but great. I hope all the older brothers and sisters will protect them.”

Josh, and some of his mates come in behind him, as soon as he sees me his smirk disappears, and his eyes burn like acid as they stare at me. “Hello Josh, and friends, okay I think the first thing we need to do is announce all of our names. We will start on the right side of the room and work our way around starting with Alex.” “Okay I’m Alexandria” “I’m Aaron.” “Nick.” “Josh.” “Chelsea” “Hey I’m Emma.” “The name is Harry.” One of Josh’s friends “James.” Another one of Josh’s “Riley.” “Charlotte.” One of Riley’s gang “Lyrica.”

But after a while it didn’t hurt anymore and it felt really fucking special. “Hey little one, you’re special aren’t you? Are you a smarty pants like your aunt?” "You decide on a name yet?" Asher said. I shook my head, "nope. Can't fucking pick." “What about Aeryn Allana Omari, it’s a double A name like mine?” Asher said, looking at her. Alpha Aeryn? I could fucking work, I thought to myself. “Or you want Rey in there somewhere? We can do three names. I don’t care.” Asher said, smiling brightly. “We could do five names for all I care.”

I wouldn't notice someone else's presence usually but his was different that I couldn't help but snap my neck to him and when I did, I gasped. He was handsome, I'd give him that and he already had his eyes on me. He gave me a small smile and then stretched out his hand. “I'm Seven.” he said, and I looked at him awkwardly before taking his hand and shaking it. Who names their kid, Seven? I thought but I must have said it out loud because he chuckled and rubbed his thumb on the back of my palm slowly with a twinkle in his eyes. “I guess my parents thought itd be unique to name me the same name as the date of my birth.”
