Her face was soft and pretty, the kind of face people compared to a lily. But her eyes were sharp and calculating. And her smile made the hair on my arms stand up. I couldn't exactly refuse, so I let her walk me down the corridor. The second we reached the bathroom door, she leaned in close, her breath warm against my ear. "Ada, want to make a little bet with me? Let's both fall down at the same time. We'll see who Professor cares about more." Her stiletto came down on my broken leg. Pain ripped through me. I went white, cold sweat sheeting down my back, and I crumpled onto the floor.

~ 11th October, 2005 I killed my mother "Wait what?" I was so stunned. I was born in two thousand and two, so if Herman is seven years older than me that means he was writing this at ten years old. No judging by the date, eleventh October....it was before his birthday. He...killed his mother the day before his birthday. Oh my god! I drop the book and take a deep breath in. Willing the feeling of dread to pass. How can a nine year old kill his own mother? Nine year olds adore their mums. Gulping down my silver I reopen the book and hope what I read was just metaphorical.
