The 'Saw' franchise has always been a rollercoaster of twists, and 'Saw 8: Legacy' definitely felt like it could’ve been the end—but then again, so did 'Saw 3D'! I remember walking out of the theater after 'Legacy,' thinking, 'Okay, that’s gotta be it,' but then the credits teased more, and sure enough, 'Spiral' and 'Jigsaw' came along. The series has this weird habit of resurrecting itself, almost like one of Jigsaw’s traps. Even if 'Legacy' was marketed as a potential finale, the producers clearly left wiggle room for more. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get another installment in a few years—the fanbase is still hungry, and the lore’s never fully closed.
That said, 'Legacy' did tie up some loose ends, especially with the original timeline. It felt like a love letter to the early films, with callbacks to Billy the Puppet and that iconic 'Hello Zepp' theme. But with the way horror franchises work these days—especially ones as profitable as 'Saw'—I’d bet money we haven’t seen the last of it. Maybe they’ll reboot it entirely, or shift focus to a new killer. Either way, I’m here for it, even if my nerves can’t handle another reverse bear trap.
