5 years later... Hudson's POV: It's August the 3rd 2025. Usually, Ashley and I should go out to a nice restaurant and celebrate the 5th anniversary of our marriage. Instead, I'm drunk in my apartment in Washington, D.C. celebrating by myself.

“Kakeru? Hello?” “Shut up.” “Did you hear what I said?” … “Yes.” “And?” It did make sense to clear that up though. “I understand.” “Really?” “Yes. But now isn’t the time to be talking about that. I… am going to sleep.” I pulled my blanket up and hugged myself under it. “Good night.” “Good night.” He returned. “Sleep properly. Even though it’s already this late… You have work tomorrow, don’t you?”

Fate. They call it destiny or kismet. A time comes in life when there's so much happiness that getting something more than what you expected felt surreal, a figment of imagination. As if just the deepest yearning dream of yours comes alive. Your ear rings with a constant numbing feeling of the words that you yearned to hear for years. The words that now repeat in your head like a mantra of lullaby. Calming and serene. Then denial and disbelief kicked in. Questions raking one after the other. It was impossible but then again nothing was impossible for God. When with all your will you try to wake up from the blissful dream but nothing happens.

If Mark had a crystal ball that let him see the future, his prediction of how the day was going to go couldn’t have been more accurate. Everything happened exactly the way he said it would.
