Hudson, my hand still in his, starts us out on the pathway circling through the woods as he points out various trees and tells a story involving John Muir and his quest to save the Sequoias. It's all a little surreal. Who would think I, Amanda Amrose, would find myself walking the woods the day after Christmas with a muscled hottie? Yet, this might be the best Christmas I've ever had. Merry Christmas to me.

Trick "Mom, are you sure it's okay for us to break tradition?" Riley asks, her eyes wide as she gazes at the Christmas tree box sitting in my apartment. "What's normal tradition?" I ask, opening the box up with my knife. Hadley smiles at her daughter. "Normally we wait until December 10th, we put on A Christmas Story, and we decorate while watching the movie play over and over again." "It's only a few days before the tenth," I look at my phone. "Today's the fifth, and if you want to watch the movie, I'm sure it's on Netflix. Why don't you go look, Sprite."

Holly admitted. "You're named after a plant common at Christmas, and yet I sense no Christmas spirit." Santa huffed. "I was named after god." she corrected. "Ah, Holy?" he asked. The blonde just nodded. "But you share a name, doesn't that mean something?" he asked. Holly heaved a sigh. "I decorated my home with my sister and friends," she began. "I helped build a snowman, made lots of sweets, and I'm making everyone Christmas jumpers." Holly turned to him, greeny-brown eyes bright with newfound vigor.

He had plans to take Alicia to buy a doll at a Christmas store, and they arrived at the store after a twenty-minute drive. "Christmas... store?" Nicholas nodded quickly. While unbuckling the seat belt on his chest, the man smiled and looked at Alicia beside him. "I want to buy you a present. Come on down, let's see if Santa Claus will give me something nice to give you through this store." Alicia chuckled amusedly, she did not expect Nicholas to entertain her in this way. She took off her seat belt and walked hand in hand with Nicholas towards the store. The Christmas shop was a festive wonderland, filled with colorful lights, ornaments, and the sweet smell of pine. Nicholas and Alicia walke

“No, I don't believe in such things.” “The man we were supposed to meet for you couldn't come because his cat got into an accident, so tomorrow we will know if you meeting Mr stranger was fate or,” Clover took one bottle of alcohol from the bag, “Thanks, Goodnight,” she said and walked away to her room. I didn't know what tomorrow held, Zade and everyone we grew up with were going to be around for Christmas. How do I face the fact that Zade and I broke up? No amount of argument could change that. My little brother Josh was in the living room watching cartoons when I scurried past him. I raced down into the snowy street. The snow was an ankle deep. I jumped around, spreading my hands as wide as I could. Christmas in the air! That smell! That smell that makes you feel good and happy just once in a whole year. I walked two steps, stopped and put my hands into my Christmas coat. A smile curved into my lips as I watched the houses in our street. They were covered in snow flakes. It made the houses look like a little mountain or something in my imagination. Each house already had a special decoration on or is still struggling with it.

It morphed into anxiety, fear, self-doubt, and countless sleepless nights. I looked at my cold, swollen fingers, then slowly asked, "Ivano, did you have a happy Christmas?" Caught off guard by my response, the other end of the line went quiet. All the lectures he'd planned were suddenly stuck in his throat. Smiling, I said softly, "I had a happy Christmas too because I discovered a secret. The comment I wrote wasn't meant to mock you. I genuinely wish all of you well." Without hesitation, I hung up.

Christmas was the reading of the book. This Christmas, Don's book was a novel—Norwegian, which was not a coincidence, a novel by the same writer whose essays were in the Norway reading programme. The novel was called The Dark Year, and it was about a man who spent a winter alone in a cabin in the far north of Norway, experiencing the full darkness for the first time. Don had been saving it since September, when he had finished the essays. He had placed it on the shelf above his desk, the designated holding place for the Christmas book, and had not opened it once.

The Christmas Eve I decided to move to Chicago for Nico Ricci, my father cut off all my credit cards. "He's just a street thug! Betray the family for him, and you'll never take over the business!" I left anyway. Didn't look back. In six years, Nico climbed from the bottom of the mob to a Capo. He built a home for us with those hands—hands that had held guns and spilled blood. Christmas Eve. I stared at the buttercream cake I'd made, waiting for Nico to find the engagement ring I'd hidden inside. Then my phone rang. His guy was stammering—Nico got into a massive bar fight, head covered in blood, might need a hospital. I rushed over through the freezing snow. But at the end of the hospital hal
