She could see the silver mark on his neck turning a bruised, dark purple. “She’s….she’s in trouble,” Killian choked out. “The Archive. Something is down there. The castle shuddered as an explosion rocked the southern wall, sending a cascade of stone and debris into the courtyard. Soldiers scrambled to defend the breach, their cries echoing through the chaos. Hazel drew her dagger, her heart racing as she and Damon rushed to join the fray. This time, the Order’s forces were different. Twisted creatures surged through the breach, their forms unnatural and grotesque. Hazel felt the pendant pulse in response, its warmth spreading through her like a shield. “They’re using dark magic,” Damon said, cutting down one of the creatures with a swift strike. “Stay on your guard.”
