"This one is in a great neighborhood, has a top-rated school nearby, and is only a 15-minute commute to the office." We set up a viewing for that evening. As we pulled up to the house, I felt a flicker of hope. The neighborhood was quiet and tree-lined, with children playing in their yards and families strolling down the sidewalks. The house itself was charming, with a small garden and a welcoming front porch. Inside, it was spacious and well-maintained. The bedrooms were large enough for the kids to have their own space, and the kitchen was perfect for family meals. I could already envision us settling in, making this place our home.

It was the only explanation. She looked around and saw that the houses in this neighborhood almost all looked like this, it was an extremely poor neighborhood, even a ghetto looked better. The asphalt was in poor condition, the electric cables were on the ground a real danger for the children who were running nearby, the water was not sure that there was any and even, it must have been really of low quality.

We lived in a modest neighborhood and almost every lot held a house, most built in the eighties, but a few new ones have gone up recently. Moe had renovated the house we lived in when he married Roberta. She kept the flower beds full of annuals and my dad kept the lawn neatly trimmed. It was the sort of neighborhood where people watched out for one another. I noticed one of our neighbors walking their dog and I saw the mail truck coming along from one house to the other. This was normal, but I wasn't feeling normal at all. A horrible evil man was after me and I didn't think I would feel normal ever again.

I asked. “I thought maybe Shae and Máire calling you Beta would have upset you. I know you haven’t made your mind up about me, about us.” he sighed. “Oh.” I softly sighed. “It was startling. But I understand their mindset. I’m your mate, so to them, that’s all there is to it. More startling was you had an agenda with that path in the park bringing us to this neighborhood.” I answered, gesturing to the new construction all around us. It was indeed a lovely and quaint neighborhood. No two houses were the same, but all held a charm to them and still fit together. Each had well-maintained yards, the sidewalks were obviously new, and you could see which houses had small children.

She just thought an old woman living alone would be easy to take advantage of. I couldn't be bothered to say anything. I pointed straight at the door. "Get out." Seeing I wasn't backing down, Shirley looked ready to keep causing a scene until she spotted the knife I'd grabbed from the kitchen. She immediately panicked. "W-What are you doing with that knife? "Are you crazy? Think about it. You're old and all alone. Someday you're going to need young people like us to help you. "A good neighbor is a present help. If you let my son use this place as his playroom, wouldn't he be just like your grandson?

I couldn't understand why my friend said the man looked familiar, but then I realized it was Joe, my neighbor and Lesley's husband. Sometimes we would travel together, and I would post our group pictures online, so it wasn't surprising that my friend recognized him. Seeing the way they acted around each other, it didn't seem like they had only just gotten close the night before. When did it all start? They are a bunch of good luck, but I fear the life ahead would be tough for me.
