What was your inspiration to write The Lady and the Scoundrel? I am a writer and full-time editor for many different projects, including a short story magazine. I wanted to write a contemporary romance inspired by my favorite romance novels as an exercise in discipline, to see if I could take on longer writing projects. There are several winks to what once was one of my favorite romance novels sprinkled throughout the story, so you can say it’s very loosely inspired by that one. On a very fortunate day for me and unfortunately for her, she came with the food and gave it to me as usual and I was so sick I couldn't even eat.

Then, he quietly replied, “You’ll do.” The words should have stung, but instead, they sparked something I didn’t want to feel, which was the need to prove him wrong, to show I wasn’t just a pawn. Lunch didn’t help. While eating at the break room, I overheard whispers someone commenting on the scandal, someone else smirking as I passed by. Anger and embarrassment twisted inside me, but I refused to let it show. I kept my head down, ate quickly. “She’s Lucio’s assistant?” one voice murmured as I passed the break room. “That… girl from the scandal?”. Another added, “Bet she slept her way in.”
