It all felt so extraordinary. "Come in." He ushered me inside the house and I was immediately captivated by the tranquility and exoticness it gave off. On the ground floor, there was a custom-made garage, huge enough to house a numerous fleet of cars. On the first floor, there was a spacious modern living room with luxurious furniture and a beautifully sculptured dining hall just by the side. The large anodized aluminum windows with double glazed glass and thermal break were open, reflecting the view of a beautiful patio that had a lot of flowers and a table ideal for having breakfast.

"Cameras?" "Just for protection," Archie says, looking over at Robert and Jenny, who catch up to walk beside us as we continue to move past the houses until we get to some empty lots that have half-built houses on top of some of them. "How many houses are you building right now?" I ask, following him as he walks through the dirt to stand next to the wooden structure. The house looks like a fairly small house but has a huge backyard that looks like there might even be a pool or something like that going in there.

However, since it was early spring, the garden was low on blooms. Only a few buds were there, promising flowers to come. Evangeline led Hank up to the garden's high point, a spot where she could take in the entire garden and even see the outdoor table where they had all been drinking earlier. Standing side by side, they faced the night breeze in silence. The quiet was so thick that one could almost touch it, until Hank let out a wistful sigh, breaking the stillness. "The Foster family's garden is something else, isn't it? Mr. Foster designed this, right?"

The moment the car was parked inside the mansion, what greeted her ears was the sound of engines and chatters of people. Hailey left the car and headed straight to where the sounds were coming from. And what met her sight was something like a mini construction sight. The ruins were cleared away and several men were at work, setting up a new garden. Her hand went to the back of her neck and she rubbed it in exasperation. When her eyes went to a farther corner away from where her garden once stood, she could see some men digging up the ground there also. Were they planning to build two gardens? Her brows drew into a frown.

“No way, I could use the fresh air. Plus, you’re going to need help if you want to get this done anytime soon. The sun will set in half an hour.” Dev shook his head, clearly amused. “Alright then, if you’re sure. Come with me.” I trailed after him around the side of the house, until we reached the patch of land. It was a small area, neatly cleared and bordered by low stones. Bags of soil and tools lay scattered nearby, and there was even a half-filled watering can next to the patch. Above us was Caspian’s balcony, casting a long shadow over the small garden. “This is it,” Dev said proudly, spreading his arms wide like he was presenting a grand estate. “It’s a work in progress, but it’ll do.

Samantha said in an even tone. Katie opened her mouth to explain but closed it again. She was used to people not believing her. It wouldn't be all bad if she got to work with animals and definitely not bad at all if she got to work with Samantha. They walked together through a well manicured roof garden. The edges were secured with strong fence for safety. The garden looked like a mini Football field and a park combined. Deep green grass cut in a way to make patterns, the ground perfectly even and soft as a pillow. Looking around Katie realised the lawn was shaped to look like a bone.

He stood on the edge of the excavated area and looked at what they had accomplished. The section was roughly eight feet by four feet, the size of a small room, and it had been transformed from compacted, weed-choked soil into something that was beginning to look like a garden bed. The earth was dark and crumbly, turned over and broken up, ready to receive the amendments that would make it fertile. He looked at his trousers. He looked at the work they'd done — the turned earth, the shape of the beds beginning to be visible, the canes marking where things would go. He looked at the garden that was not yet a garden but was in the process of becoming one.
