Author's POV "They are coming in two weeks" Marona got up and started walking back and forth. "And look at my life." Mikhail leaned back on the bed and rested on his elbows while looking at her. If someone's bothering you or blackmailing you, say it. Do you know who you're married to?" She snapped her hand off mine. "Please, it's fine. And, excuse me." She scoffed. But we know each other now. And what we have is real. Anyone who has a problem with that can deal with me." The audience applauded. Diane leaned forward, clearly moved. "What would you say to people who claim Mrs. Cross is just a gold-digger who trapped you?"

"Now that we’re married, I want to live with you." Nico’s eyes flashed with anger, and he stepped closer, closing the distance between us in an instant. "Don’t cross the line, Aria," he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "Don’t think just because I married you, I’ll ever see you as my wife. I will never consider you my wife."

I was surprised he just did that, the audacity of that man. I wanted to say yes, more than anything. I wanted it to be more than dinner. A dangerous part of me wanted his hands on me, his mouth on mine, his body pressed against me until I forgot my own name. But a lingering truth still settled in my head, the fact that I was married and cheating had always been a hard line for me, one I’d never crossed. Not even once. Emma paused the video and stared at her husband's face frozen on the screen. He looked terrified. Not guilty. Not angry. Terrified. That realization unsettled her more than anything else. For two days, she'd convinced herself that Daniel was living a secret life with another woman and child. The evidence certainly pointed that way. But now... Now something wasn't adding up. He took one look at her face and sighed. “With that expression, I take it things didn’t go well?” he asked dryly, swirling the amber liquid in his glass. Mitchell shot him a glare before sinking into the chair across from him. He smirks and adds, “How do you break down a marriage? You show pictures of their husband screwing someone at work.” My stomach twists at the thought. The images feel too intimate, too real.
