"Yes," Cale said. "It went back. It went from 4:01 to 4:00." "A micro-loop," Cale explained, as if discussing the weather. "A stutter. The universe missed a beat." "Time doesn't miss a beat!" Corbin had even patted my head and teased me, saying, “You only scored five hundred and twenty on your PSAT Math, but you sure know how to do the math on this.” Corbin replied after a few seconds. And if we don’t move fast—if we don’t get ahead of whatever this is—it won’t matter how many men we have or how sharp our blades are.” His jaw tightened, and he finally nodded.

This time She took longer. Then she wrote slowly. Understanding. Adrian looked at the word. His expression shifted slightly. “That is vague,” he said. Ava added another line. Space. Another. Time. Look at me now, I'm so miserable just by overthinking things. I can't even make myself realize that we only have a week left. After this, we'll need to work on the time machine. Dad told me that he has an old one and will just fix it for a month and that's not even for us to stay that long because in that whole month, we will keep ourselves busy with the time machine and deprive ourselves of the happiness that we experienced and we'll surely miss.

Perhaps this could work. Perhaps things will work out after all. This little one could be just right. Perhaps it's what matters now. Perhaps it’s just the hormones talking. Time will tell.
