We headed into the Earth Kingdom’s mystical forest, hoping the familiar paths and quiet might bring me some peace. As we rode through the forest, a strange pull started to guide me, like an invisible hand tugging at my very core. It led us toward the great stone wall that marked the boundary of the Earth Kingdom. I hadn’t planned on going there, but I couldn’t resist the feeling. When we reached the wall, I approached the guards. “ Did anything unusual happen today ?” I asked them, the unease still gnawing at me. One of the guards exchanged a glance with the other before answering. “ We saw Merilla pass through with a young woman. She had snow-white hair and eyes as blue as the sky.”

As I lost consciousness, I saw Levi running toward me. When I woke up again, the smell of disinfectants filled the air, and Levi sat beside me. As soon as he noticed I was awake, he grabbed my hand tightly. He asked, "Caitlyn, are you feeling better?" I yanked my hand away and remained silent, knowing that words would not matter. Levi grew anxious when he saw my empty stare. "Caitlyn, please say something. Don't shut me out like this, okay?"

"Someone once helped me like this. If she were in my place, I know she'd do the same." I stared at him, and for the first time in days, I felt a fuzzy, warm feeling in my chest. I gave him a sincere thank you. "I don't want anything more to do with them. Help me leave." Two days later, after I had recovered, Ryan drove me out of the Black Rose Pack and into the territory of White Dawn Pack. He took me to a large stone mansion. I froze for a second. I knew Ryan was wealthy, but I had not expected this.

They forgot about Iris in the hospital room. They rushed out the door. When they got home, the barrier tape was already up. A few neighbors stood at a distance, watching. A Guard stepped forward. "Are you Nova Vance's parents?"

"I should be the one apologizing. You didn't have to be part of this." He shook his head. "I wanted to be." His eyes locked on mine—too intense. I broke away and moved back to Prof. Dalloz. He looked clearer than he had in days. The moment he woke, he lit up. "The Nuv Yorke exhibit—it's the last one. I have to go." I asked Liam. He just nodded. "Let him. If he doesn't go, he'll never be at peace." I texted Liana and Gabriel. The exhibit was in three days. But no flights left. I was stuck.

Kian’s POV: “Anything special about this place?” We were walking slowly, on a deserted road. It was silent. A less chosen path by the passengers. It was quiet. Not that I didn’t like it. But I didn’t expect it. “umm, don’t you like it? It’s quiet. away from the city lights, traffic noise.” She was walking backwards facing me. Just like an iconic movie scene, her hair flowing, dramatically. “Don’t you think it’s a little bit dangerous?” I pushed my hands in my jacket. It was cold.

“Erm . . . probably. Usually these beings can’t . . . I guess you’d say manifest here in our world. But they can sometimes enter it through Quiet Places like the forest, and we can even leave this world if we want to, and if we know how.” “So these Quiet Places, they’re like a portal or something?” “More like a place where a portal can be opened. It’s because they’re very old. They haven’t changed in eons, and they’re the parts of our world that came into existence first, the bits that everything else grew from.” “Is that strictly scientific?” “I don’t think so. Matthew was more of a mystic than a scientist.” “And he put all this in his paper, that’s where you read it, right?”

Someone laughed. Someone said goodbye. Eventually, the house fell silent. Nate remained awake. He hadn't moved much. He sat on the edge of the bed staring at his phone. A message from Micah appeared. Micah: You okay? Nate typed: Nate: Yeah. He wasn't. But he didn't know how to explain that. Another hour passed. Then came a knock. Three quiet taps. Nate froze. He knew who it was. He stood slowly.
