‎ ‎The furniture was near and cold, like it was placed to be look at. ‎ ‎A stranger was sitting on a chair, closer to my bed. Leaning on the chair as if he owns the hotel. He was watching me and relaxing in a way that made my heart beat faster. ‎ ‎He looked awake. ‎ ‎Too awake. ‎Like he was waiting for me to wake up. ‎ ‎" who are you" I ask my voice being low. ‎ ‎He raised his eyebrows sightly, you don't remember. ‎ ‎I swallowed and pushed myself up, they movement sent headache to my head and body pain to my body. My body felt sore in a strange way, the memories of yesterday's sex came rushing in my head.

"You're coming back today whether you like it or not!" His grip was brutal, sending a sharp burst of pain through my arm. "Let go of me!" I wrenched my arm violently, but I couldn't break free. "Cody, let go!" Instead of releasing me, he tightened his grip, dragging me toward the stairwell. Panicking, I used my free hand to claw at his fingers. He winced in pain and fiercely shoved me away. I stumbled back a few steps, crashing hard against the wall. Before I could even find my footing, Cody suddenly spun around and slapped me across the face.

Noticing her eyes, he felt mesmerized by her.

I couldn't believe my eyes. I stood transfixed at that point staring at them, wide-eyed. I had only seen a naked woman once in my life and that was when I mistakenly barged into my mum's room. So basically the only naked woman I had seen was my mum. I was shivering as I stared at those strippers doing lots of dirty moves. I could hear people screaming 'Ella'. There was a particular stripper who was at the front so I deemed she was the Ella people were calling. She was very beautiful with a killer curvy shape. Her moves were salacious and lascivious. She had a very beautiful body and I couldn't take my eyes off her.

“I’m just trying to get myself together.” But he sat down anyway, setting his beer on her table. His hand found her arm, grip rough. “One more won’t kill,” he slurred. “I said no!” Her voice sharpened, pulling back. “SHE SAID NO!” The roar cut through the tavern like a blade. Silence crashed down. Sophia turned, heart hammering. And there he was. The stranger from her dream, appearing again. Standing a few feet away, fury carved into his expression, his gaze locked on the man who dared touch her.

“Not again. Not ever.” The sincerity in his voice nearly shattered me. As we approached the gate of my house, my stomach dropped. There were men—armed men—standing near the entrance. Not my security. Definitely not Damon’s. Strangers. I didn’t recognize a single face. Damon’s hand slid over mine, brief but grounding, before he lowered it to his gun. The gate opened for us—slowly, mechanically—like someone had been waiting. “Stay calm and close to me,” he murmured.

“Hey, Miss, are you alright?” I blinked. Someone had blocked the bonfire from my sight. Slowly, I was able to pull myself from the grasps of the ghosts of my past but my body was still shaking tremendously. The stranger pulled me to his arms. He gently patted my back. I can breathe properly again. But I wasn’t able to hear the sound until I heard him humming something. It was unfamiliar but it sounded comforting that I almost cried. And his powerful arms wrapped around me had given me the security I needed.

The beautiful stranger unexpectedly holds me tight to himself with his face snuggled in the crook of my neck, inhaling deeply like he lacked air all his life and am the only source. I'm shocked by this gesture that I'm unable to react in any way. Wherever our skin touches, is left with tingles. His body carries great warmth and it's comforting. I know it sounds crazy but I don't want him to pull away. Maybe I'm crazy. This place is making me crazy. He smells so good, just like the clean air of the forest. It makes me inhale deeply and relax in his arms. It's nothing like I have felt before even with Jake.

I did not think anyone had noticed our tussle and even if they had, I was sure it happened all the time in these places. “I do not need a friend, please go away” I muttered more to myself than to the man. He lunged forward, grabbing my arm again while I yelped in disgust and backed further away. I tripped then, my eyes widening in the realization that I was about to be on my butt in this stinky crowded bar atop of everything else. This has been the most shitty day A strong arm wrapped around my waist, steadying me while I grabbed thin air. The first thing I noticed about this stranger was his scent… he smelled like roses.
