"Here!" My head snapped up, I glanced at Ben, our eyes met, then we rushed to Newt. The gangly professor was leaning over a scripture so old, the pages had coloured yellow. It was in a language I didn't understand, but Newt readout so fast it may as well have been English. "The Valderian, a warrior born every six years destined to find the stone cup." I glanced at Ben, confused. "I'm lost. What are we meant to bring them?"

Prologue "Are you ok warrior?" A strong voice asked me. Was I ok? Will I ever be ok? After what happened here. My life is shattered. My soul had been ripped. My heart was split into two! No, I don't have a life now. There is no life left in me. There were lots of noise around me. Lots of cries, lots of blood, lots of debris. The man standing above me was still waiting for my reply. I was slumped on the ground, covered with dirt and blood, unable to look at my savior. Wouldn't it had been better, if he had not saved me. Maybe death was easier than the life I see ahead.

After a brief pause, I still refused outright. "They don't deserve it." The bloody path I fought through in my last life was something Mona should walk herself this time. Jonah smiled faintly. "You and your sister really are different." With that, he went upstairs. Watching his back, a dead memory stirred. In the flames, I seemed to see that same figure running toward me. Or was that just a hallucination before death? Early the next morning, I received a notification that a large sum of money had been transferred out of my bank account.

"When we fail, this is what happens." The Harbinger's chuckle reverberated. "Oh, you see at last." His golden flames flickered as he took a step forward. "Like you, these poor warriors once believed they could alter their destiny." My chest burned as I looked at him. "And here you trapped them." He grinned. "No, they were trapped here by fate." Damon moved ahead of me. "They are not like us. We will not lose. The Harbinger let out a sigh. "That's what everyone says."

Zachariah smiles to himself as he looks over the warriors lying at his feet and the ones standing around watching and realises that these warriors are newly placed here and that they are probably only a few weeks out of training. However, Zachariah knew that this was only the beginning and as he gets closer to his destination, the fights and the warriors were going to get harder and harder to fight unless they decide to cheat, which he wouldn’t put past warriors associated with and under the command of Valentino. But they all meant one thing – someone whose life is worth nothing to their master. He seems surprised but doesn’t disagree with us. It is late in the afternoon. The pack has gathered for the goodbyes. We stand around the five pyres.
