Twenty minutes later, Scarlet had already snapped out of her thoughts as she was now hitting her thumbs on her computer keyboard by the time Chelsea came back. “Hey, what took you so long?” Scarlet asked her and she stopped and lifted her head from the computer. “I'm sorry,” Chelsea was breathing heavily, “I accidentally poured the coffee on a stranger I bumped into, and I had no choice but to go back and get another.” She explained. “Fuck! Sorry, are you hurt?” Scarlet asked with a tone of worry as Chelsea dropped the cup of coffee in front of her. Chelsea smiled prettily, “It's fine, I'm totally okay.”

He didn’t stop walking. He turned toward the row where his seat waited, near the back,somewhere quiet, somewhere away. But just as he passed the last row, Steve subtly shifted. And then a thud. Drake stumbled hard. His shin smacked into a leg that had no business being there. The kind of move done with a smile on your face and a trap behind your teeth. His books scattered across the floor, and his knee hit the cold tiles before he caught himself. A small gasp. Then a few laughs.

My face felt hot as I recalled the events of last night, the awkwardness of it all lingering in my mind. Trying to avoid any more awkwardness, I grabbed two packs of pads and a box of tampons, quickly placing them in my basket. “Just getting these,” I said, forcing a nervous laugh. “So I gathered,” he nodded, his smirk never fading. By then, most of the onlookers who had gathered to witness my clumsy moment had returned to their own shopping. It was just Russo and me left in the aisle, and I couldn’t decide which felt more awkward—him paying for my morning-after pill or him watching me add sanitary products to my cart.

When Anna Lowe, the cleaning lady, came to clean the house, she carefully approached me and asked, "Mrs. Summers, there was an unfinished bracelet hanging on the desk in the study, and I accidentally knocked it to the floor. Some of the beads spilled out. Would you like me to help you put it back together?" I was stunned and instinctively asked, "Beads? A bracelet? We don't have anything like that in this house."
