My face felt hot as I recalled the events of last night, the awkwardness of it all lingering in my mind.
Trying to avoid any more awkwardness, I grabbed two packs of pads and a box of tampons, quickly placing them in my basket.
“Just getting these,” I said, forcing a nervous laugh.
“So I gathered,” he nodded, his smirk never fading.
By then, most of the onlookers who had gathered to witness my clumsy moment had returned to their own shopping. It was just Russo and me left in the aisle, and I couldn’t decide which felt more awkward—him paying for my morning-after pill or him watching me add sanitary products to my cart.
