We are going to be passed out on the lawn by the end of the night except for Fox. I and Ransom are the first ones to have active cards but so do Angel and Shadow, meaning our cards match. Unfortunately for Ran and I, we have to drink longer seeing as how I have the 10 of spades and Ransom has the ten of clubs while Angel has the 3 of hearts and Shadow has the 3 of diamonds.

Victor reached forward, moving a single piece. The queen. A man sat across from him, silent, waiting. "Black is moving fast," he murmured, his tone amused. "Predictable." The man across from him didn’t speak. He knew better than to interrupt when Victor was thinking. "Celeste was necessary," Victor continued, tapping his fingers idly against the edge of the board. "But now, we test his limits." He reached into his pocket, pulling out another playing card. The Ace of Spades.

The man looked like he had a dark cloud following his trail. Shadow? Maybe he moved in the Shadows and nobody ever really saw him coming? Okay, that one made sense. Ace of Spades? “What does the last one mean?” Curiosity clutched at all corners of my being. I leaned into him and stared at him with puppy eyes. He looked at me, sucked in a huge puff of breath before staring out the window. “Ace of Spades means many things in the underworld. But mostly, power, dominance, and finally; death.” Kaito humored me with the response.

Ace got his blue eyes from his mom and black hair from his dad; he was the perfect combination of the two. Seconds later, my parents came in carrying plates and drinks. After placing them on the table they took their seats next to each other beside Mr Romano. I was sitting at the end of the table, Mason was in between me and Ace who had his legs crossed on the other chair and his head resting against Mason's arm with his phone in his hands. He really didn't give a fuck as to where he was or that his parents were present. He just say what he wants, do what he wants and where he wants.

Elliot says, his voice strictly serious. " Ace? Huh . . . You can't be Ace. Do you even know who he is? He is the most ruthless mafia, he kills people like they're nothing. “Of course you cheated! I have proof right here!” Christian flashed Yoana a smug look as he reached under her chest. Yoana was caught off guard, her expression awful, when he suddenly pulled out an ace of spades out of her tube top. Before she could come to her senses and shove him away, he pulled an ace of hearts. Following that was an ace of diamonds, and then, an ace of clubs… Card after card scattered to the ground as Christian pulled them out.

The acrid scent of ozone and burnt copper hung heavy in the air, thick enough to coat the back of the throat. Sparks continued to spit from the fried control panel, casting a flickering, electric blue strobe across the damp stone walls of the west wing transit gallery. Beneath the half-open iron security gate, Julian’s fingers locked around Elder Torin’s throat with terrifying, crushing precision. The elder’s heels scraped desperately against the flagstones, his breath catching in a dry, rattling gasp as he was hoisted inches off the ground by raw, unadulterated Alpha fury.

The steam from the freshly fried chicken swirled up around me as I set my cutlery down. "I don't eat spicy food," I said, my tone sharper than I intended. The restaurant seemed to go silent for a moment. Finally realizing her mistake, Jessica looked up at me, her eyes wide with concern. "Oh gosh, I'm sorry! I was just thinking about how much Cameron loves this place. I completely forgot that you don't eat spicy food." She seemed genuinely anxious, like she thought I was about to explode. I caught a glimpse of unease in her eyes; it was clear she was worried about Cameron finding out about our relationship.

I slowed my steps, watching him push off the wall to come toward me, meeting me halfway. “I’ve been looking for you,” he said, and it wasn't the light, singsong tone he used when he wanted to get under my skin. He was quieter, careful. “Been doing some reading of my own.” I tilted my head, holding my satchel a little closer to me. “About?” “Heartspire,” he said, and the name alone sent a strange shiver down my spine. He noticed, of course. Elias noticed everything. “It’s not exactly a place most people talk about openly. Which makes it even more interesting.”
