These journalists were like a hungry dog lusting after a damn bone. They had written total crap and made it seem like I was the bad guy. They didn’t know who Heather Summers was. I can bet my life that she was the one who tipped them off about me being a famous “Casanova.”

Clara, Williams, and even Luca disappeared, leaving me in the sitting room with one man. He introduced himself as Adam. Elegant suit. Perfect tie. Expensive shoes. His accent was smooth and British, his voice calm, like he’d trained himself to never raise it. I had no idea if Adam was his first name or his last. He didn’t explain, and I didn’t ask. “There are three things we’re going to work on today, Hailey,” Adam said, folding his hands together neatly on the table between us. “After the attack this morning, there will be more interest in your story than ever before. Adams raised a brow at me, the corner of his lips curling up into a smirk that I badly wanted to punch away. “A good guy huh?” He asked, the smirk broadening and I hated that he found it funny. “Ain’t his biggest fan but…do you know what happens to good people?” Adams asked and a deep frown took over my features. “What?” I asked in annoyance, “The universe aligns them with their match.” A pang of pain struck my chest. “When did you start to believe in universe bullshit?” I groaned and Adams chuckled, enjoying the torture. He said the truth that I have been dreading to hear. Why did Adams always say the truth so smoothly?
