Adult Book Boxes Novels & Stories

A burning smell of fear hit my nostrils as I took another step into my small home, a large lump of nervousness going down my throat. For a moment, I savoured the lingering scent of beasts and fresh meat, my heartbeat so fast my ears picked it up. My sharp blue eyes drove me to the old wooden desk. Tonight, as the open window brought with it the aroma of the woods and trees, my carefully arranged books weren't the only things on the table. In the middle sat an expensively packaged small box, so tiny it could fit into my palm. It could have easily been mistaken for a simple box of Tiffany's dropped by some mysterious Prince charming who had somehow fallen in love with me.

He shook her from his mind and pushed open the doors to the study. The rug-lined room was bigger than B’s above-garage apartment. Floor to ceiling bookshelves dampened any noise B might made in his whiskey search. There didn’t seem to be a single inch of space on any one of the shelves. Books of all colors, textures, and sizes were packed together. In front of the book spines sat hundreds of little treasures–seashells, pocket watches, glass figurines, and carvings of creatures. So many creatures. B let his fingers drift over the book spines: The Picture of Dorian Gray. The Catcher in the Rye. The Odyssey. Brave New World. The Call of the Wild. White Noise. So many stories he’d never read and

Sage walked over and picked up a small box. “Is this what you are talking about? Or is it any of these?” Sage pointed to a few boxes in different shapes and sizes. Some were wood and some were glass. “I am not sure.” Said Megan as she ran her fingers over a small red box that had seen better days. Sage stood still for a second. Closing her eyes, she inhaled and exhaled three times. She walked over to the third bookcase and moved a few books off the shelf. “Megan look.”

The furniture there was old and dusty, but beside the fireplace was a large wooden box that wasn’t as dusty as the rest of the contents of the room, which meant that it was a new addition. “Alex,” I tugged on his hand, “The box over there.” Alexander let go of my hand only to kneel down by the box, turning to look at me as I knelt down beside him before he lifted the lid of the box. I immediately recognized the navy hardcover book. “The Grimoire.” “She’s here.” Alexander remarked, lifting the spell book from the box. “Why hasn’t she shown herself yet?”

Then, the three of them went to the Rookie Courier Station to collect their parcels. Felix had bought several sizes of moving boxes, with the largest one suitable for storing blankets and other bulky items and the sturdiest one for books. The most valuable things in this rented apartment were the books on the bookshelf in the living room. All three of them enjoyed reading, especially peculiar books. Therefore, when they came across a good book, they could not resist buying it and bringing it home to read together. After finishing the book, they would share their thoughts and insights.

She knew that one more second of thinking about it would lead to inappropriate things she shouldn’t be thinking about at all. Alice finally had the courage to open the box and see several books inside. The one on the very top was a new copy of the book that he had taken back when he attacked her and fed on her. "It’s the collector’s item edition…" She mumbled and checked the other books. Alice wasn’t expecting to accept a gift from Elijah as well. On one side, she found another small box. This time, she didn’t hesitate to open it, now sure that there wasn’t a bomb anywhere in her room.

The gesture had been so endearing, a glimpse into his inner world. When she got home that night, she had devoured the pages hungrily, each word bringing her closer to him. As her fingers brushed against the spines of the books, she couldn't help but smile, reliving those moments. Her eyes scanned the shelves, searching for another literary gem that might catch her attention. Catherine admired his taste in books; they were like silent reflections of his soul. She paused at one that seemed particularly intriguing, pulling it out. Her heart swelled with admiration and affection for the man who had introduced her to such captivating literature. Just as she was about to delve into the pages, some

he called back, his voice warm as sunlight. The sound of the door clicking shut was the last thing I heard before sleep reclaimed me, pulling me back into its embrace. *** I found myself rummaging through a stack of books that likely belonged to Jacob from his university years. None of them were fiction. These were all about life lessons and self-improvement. Titles like Rich Mindset and Atomic Habits caught my eye, their well-worn spines suggesting they had been thoroughly read. But one title stood out above the rest, stopping me cold:

“Alright. I will read lots of interesting books for the both of you.” “Thanks, London.” Paris rushed to her brother’s side and gave him a peck. Sierra couldn’t help but smile after they solved the problem. She put Gabby back inside the crib to continue what she was doing when she remembered the boxes in front of her apartment. “I appreciate his kindness, but what could be in the boxes, after all?” Sierra wondered. There was no label on the boxes and they all looked the same, so she couldn’t guess what was inside them.

I am just unlucky, and that sucks. I gently touch each and everything I can reach and it is wildly satisfying. I continued roaming until I stumbled upon a big old chest box. Today is my mom's 3rd year death anniversary, and I have never seen this box before. "That's weird," I whispered. I pull the heavy box towards the chair so I can sit. I easily opened the box because it has no lock. Maybe they are cleaning the house and left this precious box here. Inside there are black candles, several scrolls, and a thick pitch-black book.
