Sinful Affairs
I’d heard it too many times from too many mouths, yet it still had a sting.
“God’s forgiveness knows no bounds,” I said, though part of me wasn’t sure I believed it anymore. “Tell me what you’ve done.”
He shifted on the other side, the booth creaking again.
“I… ruined my sister’s marriage.”
His voice cracked on the word sister.
I waited, letting him find his breath.
“She’s older than me,” he went on. “Always the good one. Married young, beautiful home, beautiful life. I was the mistake, the addict, the disappointment. She took me in after my relapse last year. Said she’d help me get clean.”
