Ace chimed in, his eyes shining with pride. I couldn't help but smile at their infectious energy, feeling a warmth spread through my heart. Pushing aside my worries for a moment, I shifted my focus to them, eager to see their creations. "That's wonderful, sweeties! Let me see." I beckoned them closer, and they eagerly rushed over, holding their drawings into my hands. Luna's drawing shown a colorful garden scene, complete with flowers, butterflies, and a shining sun, while Ace's featured a tall tree laden with apples, surrounded by smiling stick-figure people.

The sky was a wide sheet of pale blue as spring progressed slowly into the little village. The final remains of winter had been swept clean by the last storm, and with its loss, something between Adrian and Elara had changed—almost without realizing it to either, but deeply. Adrian sat outside the cottage, fingers charcoal-blackened as he rubbed them over the paper to draw the shape of a fox he'd spotted earlier along the edge of the treeline. He sat still, intent, even when his mind wandered easily. It was a different sort of therapy, these still hours and painting. Before, he was rewarded for appearances; now, he was soothed by art.

A handful of graphite pens. My fingers curl around the paper. The memory hits me like a physical blow to the solar plexus. The shoe designs. The factory layouts. The stitches. I know exactly how to draw them. I know the exact measurements. I let out a soft, involuntary breath, my lips curving into a wide smile as I stare at the page. "Betty?" The uncertainty in Adriel's voice is like a cold drop of water down my spine. I stiffen, but it is too late. I have already let the smile stay on my face for too long. I turn my head slowly, the drawing pad still clutched tightly against my ribs.

Elias was sitting on the floor, showing Hope his drawings. "This is my dinosaur collection," Elias said proudly. Hope smiled. "You drew all of these?" "Yes." Elias pointed at one picture. "This one is my favorite." "What is it?" "A family." Hope looked closer. The drawing was simple. A childlike picture of four people holding hands. A father. A mother. A boy. A girl. Adrian saw it from across the room. His chest tightened. A family. The one thing he had wanted more than anything. Then suddenly...

“This one is named Moonlight Tears.” Then the next. “This is Queen’s Promise.” Another. “Star Whisper.” Then “Ocean Crown.” And “Celestial Hearts.” Adrian’s eyes widened with each sheet. He lifted one drawing slowly… as if afraid to damage it. His jaw tightened not in anger but in shock. “These…” he whispered. He leaned back, fingers pressing against the paper. Only he knew how much the company was silently struggling. How badly he needed something new. Something fresh. Something like… her.

Aadesh took a colouring book and crayons and gave it to the kids to keep them occupied and went to attend a call just outside the room. Once the call is over and he returned to the room only to see the children colouring the walls, abandoning the colouring book. "What are you two doing??" He cried out seeing the stick figures on the wall drawn by Ava and concentric circles of various colors drawn by Advi. They book looked up from their task and smiled proudly at their chachu who is now sweating. "Chachu, see Ava and Advi" Ava said pointing at the two stick figures on the wall.

Sitting in the empty house, there wasn't much else to do. Arder walked down the narrow hallway that had the backdoor at the end, and stopped at the closed door next to it. Out of pure boredom, she decided to look around. Inside the room was a bedroom that seemed to also be an office. There were all the normal things such as a bed and dresser, but then also a desk. It had a layer of dust across it, with papers and pens scattered all around. Arder sat down in the chair that was left with it, and picked up one of the pens. She dragged it across a small ripped paper, for the chance that it still had ink. After drawing a few invisible lines, the ink slowly started to appear. With nothing else to

Instead I heard giggles, grunts and laughter sounding from the inner chambers even before I set foot into the chambers. I stopped in my tracks and smiled. Adrian was spending quality time with his kids. No matter how busy he was, he cut out of his schedule and enjoyed quality time with them. I stood for a moment and relished their sounds. I kept my tea cup carefully at the dinning table before walking into the inner chambers. There were a lot of colour pencils and crayons scttered around, on the bed, the floor, side table, everywhere. The twins had drawn what appeared to be disaster on their brown book, their own perfect image of what looked like Adrian and I.

Alexander comes home from his meeting with Marcus at two in the afternoon. I am still in my room with the sketchbook open on the desk and charcoal on my hands. I have been drawing for three hours straight. The sixth piece is almost finished. Just a few more details and it will be done.
