The man answers in a cold tone, still looking at a painting framed on the wall. "How can you be so sure that you won't mess up in taking care of my son?" I'm still looking at the floor, bowing my head before I speak. "I'm not 100% certain that I won't make mistakes in taking care of your son, but I'm 101% sure that I will do everything I can to take good care of him. So please be kind and patient with him."

I tried to ignore the persistent buzz beneath my skin as Jaden stared at me while Charlotte took the rest of her toys from the babysitter that helped us out last night. I would not think about Sebastian while I wanted to talk to the children. That was just wrong. I snuck another glance at Jaden, but this time, he was staring at Charlotte, his lips curled up in a tiny smile. "Thank you for letting me share this amazing time with your kids." The babysitter raised her hand for a handshake while holding her bag with the other. It looked a bit heavy - a leather dupe of a Hermes bag with a fancy hand - supposed it carried all her stuff.

Physics betrayed us.” I snorted. “Physics has no power over determined toddlers.” A comfortable silence settled between us, broken only by the distant sound of waves and a seagull crying somewhere overhead. The sun was warm, and the scent of salt and sunscreen hung in the air like a promise of peace, fleeting, fragile, but real. “Do you think they’re sleeping okay without us?” I asked softly, not opening my eyes. “They’ve got my mom, two babysitters, and approximately fifteen stuffed animals between them,” Micah said. “If anything, they’re probably sleeping better than we are.”

Caleb said to Alice. "I'm a seasoned babysitter. Been watching my neighbours’ kid for years," Alice told him with a proud, reassuring grin. "Thank you, guys," Ms Spencer gushed. "I'm sorry it's such late notice, Cal." "I'm sorry," Caleb said to Alice after his mum had gone up to bed. "That means no sexy fun times in the morning." "It'll be fun," Alice said. "We can take him to feed the ducks." "Sounds like a riot," Caleb teased her, but secretly, he was looking forward to it.

However, his parents were more concerned about who they saw rather than what they saw. "What is she doing here?" Tony demanded, vexed. Katty looked equally upset. Dante shifted his gaze to his dad. "She is Vincent's babysitter," Dante revealed, leaving them reeling with shock and disbelief. They exchanged a confused glance with each other before fixing their incredulous gaze on him, as if questioning his insanity. "Have you forgotten what she has done to you?" Katty asked, reminding him of the past. "That girl ran away with her boyfriend. She has no character. And you want that characterless girl to raise our grandchild," Tony fumed. Dante returned his glare with his own.

She wanted to punt her out a window. “Sky,” he muttered, “Let’s just go home.” He stepped past her toward the door, stopping just inches from her shoulder. Close enough she felt the warmth radiating off him. Elisa gasped dramatically, like she’d just witnessed someone cancel Christmas. “Wait…hold on,” she squealed, rushing forward in her sparkly heels. “You’re leaving? Already?? Sky, that is literally so lame.” Sky’s head whipped around. “Excuse me?” Elisa folded her arms, hip popping out with Olympic-level smugness. “You just got here. And you’re gonna dip because your babysitter got a little messy?”

Without realizing it, she kissed his cheek again and again. “Noah, Mommy needs to take a quick shower and change clothes. Wait here, okay? Don’t cry,” she said softly, planting another kiss on his round cheek. “Mommy’s boy is so clever,” she added with affection when Noah laughed widely, his tiny mouth opening in pure delight. After saying goodbye, Elizabeth handed Noah to the babysitter whom Mawar had recently hired. Elizabeth had been confused. Mawar seemed to have plenty of money—enough to hire an additional babysitter—despite already paying her generously to care for Noah and nurse him directly.

The woman sat opposite me and wrote a few things down on the paper in front of her. Now that I think of it, it’s kind of odd that they decided to hire a babysitter in such a crude manner. I would have guessed that they would have employed their resources to find the best of the best babysitter in the rich world. “Miss Sands.” She threw me a short smile. “Have you ever babysat before?” “No. I have never done it before.” Not even as a teenager. “Are you a University graduate?” I nodded affirmatively. “Is this your first job application?”

I do not like authority, but I truly need it and need to be put in place every now and then. I would not have much of a problem if dad had hired some thirty something, tall, hot as hell, handsome hunk, in fact I would have been thrilled to have an absolute hottie as my babysitter- but instead I have Greta and I find her absolutely atrocious. At least I will not have to see her sour face for a week, this is the only time I can say thank goodness for Bassa!
