A month since I started to feel sorry for myself, to hide from everything, including myself. *one month ago / Jennifer's POV* I had the best night of my life yesterday, honestly, it might have ended on a sad note but it was the best night of my life hands down. If I had a doubt before now I'm absolutely sure that I'm madly and utterly in love with Richard. I never knew love could make a difference when it came to sex, I'm not sure sex is the word to describe it, it was so full of emotion and so perfect. I made love for the first time.

I stood at the entrance of the busy clinic, watching in a daze as he gently cradled Tammy's hand, filled with concern. At that moment, I realized John could show tenderness and care for someone. It was not that he was incapable of it—he just never cared enough about me. I was heartbroken as I returned home. I did not even have the appetite for dinner.

He walked to the side of the hospital bed and dropped to one knee, kneeling at my bedside. "Pearl, I know I was wrong," he pleaded. "But please, don't divorce me. I truly can't live without you." Tears started to roll down from the corners of his eyes. I scoffed, looking at him with a mocking smile. "Hank, when you called me petty on our wedding day, you didn't feel any love for me. When you went on a honeymoon with Susie, you didn't feel any love for me. Now that we're divorcing, suddenly you feel like you love me again?" I sneered. "Your love is really cheap."

My mind is filled with nothing but thoughts of him—and how I can make him happy. We made love all through the night, and it was the first time anything like that had ever happened to me. The experience was exhilarating and completely new, igniting a passion I hadn’t truly understood until now. As the first light of dawn began to filter through the curtains, I couldn’t help but smile, knowing deep in my heart that this was only the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in our lives.

My tears finally broke through. A month ago, her cousin Stephen had returned to the capital after his wife's death. Because his old heart condition had flared up, he needed compatible heart's blood for his medicine. Using her authority as a princess, she tested every blood source in the city.
