“How much you’d resist. And now they know.”
Heat roared up inside her, unbidden. The fire surged at the words, burning against her skin as if it were alive, as if it understood. She stumbled back, clutching her chest. Aiden caught her, his hands firm on her arms, grounding her before the flames could break loose.
“Breathe,” he ordered softly, his forehead pressed to hers again. “Stay with me. You’re not theirs.”
But Rowan’s words wouldn’t leave her. They wanted to see how much you’d resist.
