He started to protest. “Don’t argue with me about this,” she took the she-wolf. “Alright Abigail,” she said softly. “I’ve got you. Let’s go,” she said crisply to the others and started to the door. “You have to tell us the codes, Abigail,” she prompted as they neared the door. “Nine, Three, One, Six,” Abigail slurred the numbers out.

The door opened, revealing a room full of computer equipment and a massive countdown display. Eight minutes, forty-three seconds. "The abort code," Vex whispered. "Console three. Authorization code Prometheus-Omega-7-7-4. But you need... my voice recognition... too." She coughed blood, her body failing. "Stay with me," I said, carrying her to the console. "Just a little longer." Theo was already at the computer, his fingers flying over the keyboard. "Got it. Ready for voice authorization." I held Vex close to the microphone. "Say it. Authorization code Prometheus-Omega-7-7-4."

Just as I'm about to pocket it, a reply appears. THEM: “{13-15}” My jaw tightens. 13-15 is the code for a particular rendezvous point. I type back immediately. ME: “{On it.}” This is the only way. Decision made, I slip the phone into my pocket and move towards the entrance, stopping beside the guard from earlier. "Make yourself invincible, but keep watch." He nods, "Yes, Alpha." So, I leave the room. My boots echo against the floor as I move toward the front of the house.
