“Two, I’m the coven leader.” The edge of his mouth twists in a prideful smirk. “And…” I reply a bit sarcastically, finding his arrogance a bit exhausting, especially considering the afternoon I’ve had. “And…” he confesses, “I’m not alone, I have the whole coven with me.” He grins, getting joy from my confusion. “It’s Wildcrafting Day.” We turn the corner and in the clearing up ahead I see Marigold, Jasper, Juniper, Rainy, and Antigone all sitting in the mud, small knives in their hands digging away at roots, stems, and berries, stashing them away in small canvas bags.

Looking at Ash’s figure, there was no sound and he nearly looked like a technicolor figure, like you’d see on an old TV set from decades ago. He sat at his desk and looked over some things until his head jerked up, clearly alarmed. It looked like he was growling and his canines were out. I barely registered the movement but suddenly he was against the wall with a hand to his throat. The figure wore a black cloak, with an insignia on the back … the logo for the Red Midnight Coven.

“So is staying here.” That shifts the conversation. Good. Because we don’t have the luxury of focusing on one problem when ten more are already closing in. “What happened out there?” Elias asks, pushing off the beam now, his posture straightening as his attention sharpens fully. “We heard movement near the east line.” “Hunting parties,” I say. “More organized than before. More precise.” “How many?” Mira asks. “Enough to know they’re not guessing anymore.” Silence falls again.

I do not know what I expected the coven to look like but this exceeds my expectations. The old school log cabin type cottages are deep with in the woods there’s herbs scattered all through the area. Each individual cottage has its own vegetable catch with a communal veggie patch in the middle of the cottages equiped with fruit trees and bushes, every type of vegetable you could imagine along with a section of the rare medical herbs and plants. Wild Flowers grow all around this thriving community it truly is a wonderful experience. It’s morning so we head towards the covens group hall where they preform their rituals the group hall also doubles up and is used for breakfast every morning. Ever

This works out pretty perfectly for us since we are already in Freedom Ridge and Montana is a part of Freedom Ridge territory. Coven House was dark and cold inside, with only red lights burning everywhere as if fires were lit in the middle of every room. The air was thick, hot, and stank of blood, clinging to everything like a mist. It wasn't something that could be wiped away by water – the scent remained even though someone bathed after.
