--- Part I – Embers of Trust The Hearthvale Inn burned through lamplight and hushed conversations. Tulen paced slowly before the cold hearth, reading the sigil etched into stone over and over. Miri studied its geometry. “Same curvature. The Covenant again.” Brynn, who’d arrived only hours earlier by fast courier at Marisol’s request, pointed out the center lines. “This isn’t just a mark—it’s a seal. A claim. The Covenant Archives looked like something out of a fairytale. Or a nightmare. I couldn't decide which. Built into the side of a mountain, the entrance was a massive stone archway covered in runes that glowed faintly. Ancient. Powerful. The kind of place that made my wolf nervous. Easy, Ash whispered. This place smells of old magic. Old doesn't mean bad, I told her. But I wasn't entirely convinced. "Impressive," Mara said, pulling the SUV to a stop. "Creepy, but impressive."

The coven house is located at Rue Crèmieux, a colorful residential street that barely has a human life form on it. Only the echoes of my footsteps could be heard as I walked down the desolate lane. I got to the front of a house and pushed the door open. The whole room was pitch black. I conjured a small fire on my pinky finger and walked in. The familiar smell of moisture wafted to my nostrils; I just can't get used to it. I held my breath. There, sitting in their usual spot, are the rest of the members, about a hundred of them staring at me eerily with an odd smile on their faces. The only thing that lit the room was a single candle on the table.
