The Mate Agreement
Akio Kamio slides into the empty seat on my left and takes off his cow-print cowboy hat, setting it down on the table along with a crumpled black necktie.
I sigh heavily. “Go away, Japanese Jesus.”
Akio tucks a strand of his straight shoulder-length black hair behind a pointy, elfish ear. It isn’t tied in a man-bun today, probably because he can’t find a hair tie and hasn’t found someone else’s to steal yet. Akio had looks that could make him stand out in a room of gazillion people. He is unnaturally tall and lean, handsome in a girlish way with hollow cheeks. Evin and I had agreed that he reminded us of Jesus, if Jesus was Japanese and was trying to grow a detective-style mustache, hence th
