Okay?” I ignored Theodore, and looked at Jamira. “Yes, you highness.” She nodded her head, letting me know she understood. “Did yall get everything?” I asked, looking at the carriage behind them. I walked up to Alsie. “Such a good girl you are! Always taking care of us.” I rubbed her mane. I did not know her age when I got her, but it has been 24 years. She has not aged like me. I couldn’t ignore the fact that the voice had sounded exactly like Spencer. “What exactly is goimg on?” I wondered aloud. A knock sounded on my door, ending my flow of throats. I rolled my eyes in frustration as I answered. “Come in.” The door creaked open and a petite girl dressimg in a thigh length black dress covered with a white apron entered. “Hello, Alyssa. What’s the matter?” I asked. Alyssa was the maid permanently assigned to me for the rest of my life. “You have a visitor, Mrs,” Alyssa replied. I could see that she was trying hard to fight the blush off her face, and neither did i miss the emphasis on the last word she uttered.

I watched what the others were doing before falling asleep as well on the cold tiles. The next morning came with new visitors. The pink haired girl, named Alaina, was with the small group of five; and returned to Diesel’s room to lean against the glass. She seemed pretty pleased with herself, and even showed off the numbers marked on her wrist, which were the same as the woman’s I had seen yesterday. “My friends think its trendy” she joked “they can’t wait to see the baby.” “Only a few months” Diesel said but didn’t approach her. In fact, he seemed annoyed with her.

His words sank into me like ice water, chilling the anger brewing in my chest, mixing it with fear I wasn’t ready to name. Lucious’s voice was low, almost drowned by the wind. “They’re cleaning up threats. We need to look into Alaina Meyers’s past. Her pack doesn’t exist in any records.
