“I said, let her go.” The man studied her closely now, fascination replacing amusement. “Incredible,” he murmured. “You’re stronger than I expected. Untrained. Emotional. And still holding back.” “Who are you?” Lily demanded. He smiled and pulled back his hood. His face was human, too human, but his eyes glowed faintly violet, threaded with black veins that pulsed when Lily’s power flared. “My name is Alaric,” he said. “And I study evolution.” Derek pushed himself upright, blood at the corner of his mouth. “You’re a rogue mage.”

Alaric’s tone is mocking. “Do you honestly think you’d be the first she-wolf to try and clinch success with her body? Did you think you could trick me with such an obvious trap?” He laughs at me, the sound bitter and cold. “You probably wanted that new guy Richard to grope you in the hallway. A new doctor, right? The perfect victim for your spell, I bet he has money.” Alaric won’t let up, continuing to mock me. He looks extremely angry. “All that fainting you’ve been doing lately, all these theatrics. You’re probably just trying to stir up sympathy until the right, dumb wolf comes around so you can trap him with a baby.”

His blood-stained frame left a hideous imprint on my window and left a crimson trail on my shirt as our bodies collided in his reckless descent. I whipped my head around, locking eyes with him as he let out a guttural groan and shattered the arrows embedded in his flesh with a swift crack. My sharp eye immediately identified the arrows as the very same ones my parents used for hunting in our pack, expertly crafted to target vampires with their deadly poisoned tips. Our pack witch had concocted a potent potion that not only paralyzed vampires, but could prove fatal if left untreated beyond a day.

I said, looking at Aries, trying my best to get him to give me a clear and direct answer. Aries sighed, looking over at me. "We were too little to know what was happening, let alone understand what was going on" Aries said, rubbing his temples. I looked at him questioningly, waiting for him to elaborate some more. "Come on man, you are going to have to give me a little more. The last time I could remember ever encountering a vampire, was when we were only pups and in pre-school still" I said, trying to think back to that day, but memory kept on escaping me.

How could I get another chance at living only to die again at the dizzying fangs of the Vampire Lord? I tried to call out to him. “My Lord, please… please, you must stop now.” He didn't break through his haze; he just kept going. I was starting to feel dizzy. I desperately wished someone would come in and knock some sense into him. As blackness started to creep into my vision, I whispered his name with a tear falling from my eye. “Alistair, please stop.” Like magic, he wrenched back, a low gasp escaping his throat.

Adelaide Alaric lunged in front of the barrier, then moved at the speed of light, sinking his teeth into several wolves, tearing them apart. Up until now, no one had actually taken the first step to do something, but now he had. I had no idea where Violet was, but I had no doubt she was someplace safe because I trusted Alaric. Judging by his big entrance, I could only imagine what he had done to those wolves that had followed after him.

He said and with a blink of an eye he shot a substance, which looks like black shards into Derek's chest near his heart. And once again every one gasped. "Balian's assemble!." He shouted . Immediately. More like ' Avengers assemble ' I shifted my gaze to Derek who was now in so much pain. I broke down. I wondered why, I'm to be like the other people in the hall, with their faces showing zero emotions. But still their next in line they should be crying. Anyways always heard that vampires are heartless. Wonder if that is true.
