It was as if the sun just turned pure white. "This is just the beginning" Albus said as he closed his hand and compressed the ball of flames to a size that could fit in his hand. It no longer looked like a ball of flames but instead it looked like a little ball of light that hovered above his palm. "NOW DIE!!!" he yelled as he shot a concentrated beam at his target. He easily broke through the barrier but still missed, and his targets were out sight. "You're right, I am indeed very lucky" Mina from behind Albus. He turned around to look but saw no one.

I knew the three-minute window when the balcony of the East Wing was unobserved. I moved through the shadows of my suite, my heart hammering against my ribs. I had changed into dark, durable leathers, no silk, no lace. I reached the back balcony and whispered the spell. Instantly my broom appeared, it was humble, made of ash and bound with copper wire, but the moment my fingers touched the wood, it sparked with a faint violet light. ‘Now?’ Era asked, her instinct warring between the urge to stay for the Alpha and the need to run for the Moon.

Iris murmured. "He always did like the slow poisons." "Can you fix it?" I asked. My voice sounded small. I hated myself for it. Iris turned to Alice. "Give me the mortar," Iris commanded. "And the red variant of the hollowberry roots." Alice did not move. She looked at me, waiting for the countermand. "Get it," I said. Alice walked to the glass cabinets, her keys rattling against the metal frame. She brought back a black stone bowl and three jars.

Little by little, she began to agree with Alexander. The professor ended the discussion, then headed for another student, leaving Elizabeth with her thoughts. “Let's see your wand, Mr. Alexander Soimesti.” The boy took out the wand made at the creative Workshop, but the professor signalled that he wanted to use the one from the beautifully crafted sheath ... that family heirloom. Alexander elegantly took it out of his sleeve, then from the sheath and without waiting for a word of approval from Smart, he cried twice: “Flammis acribus flamma! Flammis acribus flamma!”

“Have you got your own druidic wand?” “A what?” I answered swiftly. “It is an object we use to enhance the spell of potion we are working on.” Aerin stood up and sauntered over to the table, she started drawing on a piece of paper that Grandma Rose handed to her. “It is called a Druid rod or wand. It is made from Hazel, with herbal clay worked around it and embellished with crystals.” She drew a staff-like wand. “It has to touch the thing that it was directed at with the crystal at the top.”

I gasped, my body trembling with anticipation. "Good," he said. He picked up one of the instruments from the case. It was a small, silver rod, with a tiny, sharp point on the end. It looked like a pen, but for flesh. "This is called a wand. It's for tracing delicate lines. For making you feel things you've never felt before."

She waited in silence for him to continue. "The labels only have dates written. The oldest one dated from 'Summer, 1899', and the newest one dated 'June, 1992'. The wand is black, ebony wood probably. Not used recently enough to work with the reversal spell." Auror Moody finished reporting, and Director Bones noded. "You can use the school's pensieve if you wish to look at some of the memories."

It was a weird source of inspiration but she cherished it nevertheless. The second picture she gave to Mrs Alice was that of a pale skinned child with long red hair covering one of her eyes. A magical potion was bleeding out of her left uncovered eye as she held in one of her hands a glass filled with the dazzling magical potion. It inspired three other of her drafts. "Deep," Mrs Alice stared long at the pictures. "Let me have a look at the drafts."

“Is Grandmother about? You want to watch out for those teeth.” Gloria creased up and I realised I may have misjudged her. “He got you there, Potter,” she said. I spotted his name badge then. “Abel C Potter,” it read. “Is your middle name Clay?” I asked. And off she went again. It must be some kind of cosmic joke, because he didn’t strike me as either competent or manually dexterous. “Cornelius,” he admitted, fiddling with the blue pen in the top pocket of his otherwise pristine lab coat.

“Are there any other details you can remember? Even the tiniest piece of information can be helpful.” I shook my head, then realizing she couldn’t see me, I said, “No. Nothing else that I can think of—Oh, wait. Actually, there is one more thing that probably is significant. His wand was kind of strange. It was made of a red stone, but instead of the sides being smooth, they were faceted. For a second, when I first saw it, I thought it was made of ruby…” My words hung in the air, as Vee cracked open her eyes and pinned me with an intense stare. “Not a ruby,” she said. “A faceted red diamond.”
