The One
It sounds like everything I have ever loved being ripped away.
I scream again and again and there are no more words, no more breath. There’s only magic.
It builds without warning or thought. I don’t call or summon it, it just comes from deep down inside of me, from some ancient place.
It pours out of me like lightning through my veins. The ground vibrates beneath me. My hair lifts in the air, crackling with power. The air shimmers with golden light.
Then the magic erupts. It surges from my chest in a wave, blinding and hot and full of grief. It races across the battlefield in a brilliant arc, a dome of force that slams into the Oceanan army like a physical blow.
