“I thought I was loved. Why can't I be loved, Raymond?” she asked.
In her glassy eyes, I could see pain. A pain she didn't want to share with me.
Her words seemed to plunge me deeper into the world of confusion.
“I love you, Elena,” I replied, my fingers brushing her hair and drying up her tears.
“Oh, stop it, Raymond. I saw everything,” she snapped, the tears dripping from her eyeballs. “If you did, you wouldn't have left the company to meet Alana,” she accused.
