Nathan nodded slowly, his grip tightening on my hands. “You’re right. I’ve been so focused on protecting what I have that I’ve lost sight of what really matters. I’ll talk to them. Both of them.”
I smiled, a small glimmer of hope breaking through the tension. “That’s all I ask.”
Nathan pulled me into his arms, holding me tightly. “I don’t deserve you,” he murmured.
I rested my head against his chest, closing my eyes. “No, you don’t. But I’m here anyway.”
