Their movements fell into place…her silver dress catching gold light, the slow turn of violins covering a tension neither dared voice.
“You look…” Adrian began, then stopped himself. “Strong. I won’t use clichés.”
“Good. You lost that privilege,” she murmured, but her lips curved.
For a brief, dangerous second, the room faded until only the rhythm mattered.
