Then suddenly, he burst into laughter, bending forward as he laughed uncontrollably. “This is too good.” He wiped tears from the corners of his eyes. “But you’re wrong. Xavier stared at Chiara as she slept. She looked so peaceful and harmless as she slept, he never would have guessed she was a psychopath. The corners of her lips were curved in a smile and she looked angelic. The cold expression that was usually on her face was replaced with a happy expression.

Questions and exclamations filled the air, and Angel struggled not to cringe under the scrutiny of the entire pack. Why couldn't I have just controlled myself? she asked herself. She was surprised when Layon ignored the pack and wandered over to nuzzle his snout into her cheek, offering her a lick before he turned and began to shift back into his human form.
