I had a duty to my pack and life had to go on. Later that evening, as I lay in bed staring at the ceiling, my phone buzzed with an incoming call. The name "Damian" appeared on the screen. Where did I know that name from? “Damian is the brother of the Alpha of Dark Brood pack. Interesting that he has our number,” Theo said within me causing me to sit up in alarm. Why would he be calling me? Dark Brood was a pack that lived by their own rules with a reputation for ruthless business dealings and connections to the underworld.

Alpha Damien resolved to revitalize his thinking by changing the route of his thoughtfulness. 'What about a hot girl opening her legs for you, Alpha Damien? Wouldn't that be a cool sight?' As the door of the elevator unfastened, his wolf's voice rang in his head. 'Yeah... Let's think about wet p*ssies and hard n*pples. Right Damien?' His wolf's remark was a slap of mockery. Did your mommy tell you that Alphas are invincible, and you believed her like a good little pup?" Damien gave me the finger and then picked up another piece of cement. I sighed at his arrogance but threw my hands up as he passed me. That was on him if the stupid Alpha didn't want to listen.

Two completely different people walking the same path. His study was warm. A fire crackled in the hearth and candles burned on the desk casting the room in soft amber light. Maps and documents covered every surface as usual. This room was his battlefield. The place where he fought wars without ever leaving his chair. He sat behind the desk and spread a new report in front of me. I sat across from him and scanned the contents. "Damien has secured a fourth alliance" he said. "Alpha Crane of the Iron Fang pack. They are small but aggressive. Crane has a personal grudge against the Blue Moon pack so Damien would have had no trouble recruiting him."

"You'd be worse than this if you had." I groan, rub my face in my hands at something else I have no clue about and don't really want to find out. "Yeahhh," She laughs. "Let's have that conversation when you're feeling a bit less like a corpse." Pushing the existential crises aside, I press further. "Are you bonded?" Valentine's expression turns horrified. "Absolutely not, bitch. I'm a Beta." The relief in her voice is extraordinary. "Thank fuck." The last of my magic drink goes down the wrong hole and I choke.

Damien sighed and rubbed his head in frustration. "I know, Alex, but I mean it when I say there's nothing wrong with me. I'm just tired, that's all. Now, as your Alpha, I command you to leave me be!" Damien repeated, firmly ordering Alex with his Alpha title. Alex stared at Damien for a while and seeing he wasn't going to let up, he shook his head, sighed and turned to leave. Damien didn't move and just stared at his friend's retreating back. Some things are better left unsaid. Alex left the room and headed to the balcony for a smoke.

“Truly? Then tell me.” Damien raised a brow, his grin widening. “Well… if it’s a boy, we shall call him *Little Alpha*. That way everyone will know who is boss before he even learns to walk.” Elara gasped and slapped his arm lightly. “Damien! That is not a name.” He laughed heartily, enjoying her reaction. “Why not? It sounds strong. Imagine it—‘Little Alpha, come here!’ Everyone will obey, even before he grows teeth.” Elara shook her head, trying to hide her smile. “You are not serious.”

Daniel replied without hesitation. Meanwhile, Alpha Damien was deep in thought, contemplating the challenges of reclaiming his kingdom from a rival pack. His phone chimed, and he frowned at the unknown number flashing on the screen. He answered cautiously. "Who is this?" "Alpha Damien, it's Axel. We need to act now about Brandon being taken by vampires," Axel's voice cut through Damien's thoughts. Damien's eyes narrowed, his mind immediately shifting gears. "I will be there. Let's reclaim what's ours."

Alpha. The men rose. Even my father stopped breathing. I did not turn until he passed me, and when my eyes caught sight of him as he looked sideways at me, I knew exactly why they froze. It was Dimitri Volkov. Alpha of the Black Fang Pack. Pakhan of the Volkov Bratva. The monster whispered about by wolves and humans alike. He stopped in front of the table. “Why is there a girl on my floor?” One of the men cleared his throat. “Ivan Morozov brought her as partial payment.”
