I push my face into it. My eyes are glowing. They're fucking glowing. A bright green, like the forest in spring. When the leaves are just starting to sprout. Shimmering, swirling with the specks of darker. I lower the mirror in a daze and slowly look up at Alina. "Holy fuck." "You didn't know?" "What do you mean?! I've never had a wolf!" I jump from the bed, running out of the room and into the bathroom. As if this mirror will tell a different story, I check. I'm stunned. The glow is still there.

The sudden light caused the wolf to jerk upright, quickly turn tail, and run off into the woods again. She frowned, angry at herself for scaring the animal off, but then she looked at the picture. It was beautiful. The female was looking directly into the camera, eyes sparkling in the sunbeams coming through the tree canopy. Intelligence shone from them.
